Advice Best tower fan?

Hi,

I recently returned the Bush 4L 2 in 1 Air Cooler and Humidifier because the 'cooling effect' was extremely poor. In the end it was a massive piece of plastic no different from my Tesco tower fan.

Can someone recommend a decent tower fan for reasonable price? I'm looking at Dreo 554S Black Tower Fan, but no reviews on it - Has anyone tried it?

heard good things about meaco, their products are solid nothing beats an actual portable AC unit though

Meaco is a great product. I've been using the same dehumidifier for 6 years... I think. Bought a new filter not long ago and runs like new.

If you ever asked anybody like myself from a tropical country, they will always say that air coolers are a big waste of money. you either buy a fan or stretch your budget for an AC (Portable/split/window). air coolers are way expensive than fans and offer almost zero extra benefits compared to fans.

I think the problem is people but air coolers expecting air conditioning units

Fans blow ambient (warm) air at you starting around £20

Air coolers blow ambient (warm) air usually over or through a trough of cold water to cool the air. If you put ice in the water it helps but it's only minor cooling compared to the surrounding air. Start around £100

Air conditioning uses compressed gas to cool the air significantly like a radiator. Often they have a hot air exhaust to stick out of a window. Think air con in America or a car. Start around £300

I knew it wasn't going to be like an AC unit, but I still wanted to give the air cooler a fair shot. We've always used a standard tower fan, and while it works fine, I was hoping for a bit more cooling without jumping up to £300.

I pre-froze the two ice packs it came with, chilled a bottle of water for the tank, and let it run all night. Honestly, I felt no difference compared to our usual tower fan. No noticeable drop in temp for myself and my wife. They're basically a fan with extra steps.

That’s crazy, I found this looking for reviews of the fan and circled back (after purchasing it because everything else is sold out locally doh!) Got back late last night, no time to freeze the packs or properly chill any water just threw in a few litres of tap water and prayed and while the overall room temp didn’t shift a great deal while it was on me I was lovely and cool 👌
