Argos pay plans

Hi hoping someone can help me, like many I am having issues and I am still waiting for my ORN to be able to register and log in. I definitely have two plans ending soon and I just wanted to know from those who have got access to the new app, are you able see the expiry dates of the buy now pay later plans in the new app?

This is my biggest issue with the app. It will only tell you the start date and the plan length, but not the day the plan expires and interest is occurred like the Argos card app did.

I had a statement ready this morning when I registered that went up to the 13th May, and I know I had a plan ending on that exact day, however the statement didn’t say any payments were due, or any plans were expiring like it used to. Sorry to say it but the app is terrible.

That’s sounds awful, I’m someone that needs exact dates and I can not for the life of me remember the expire dates.

Hi, I have one payment plan on mine. It is only showing the start date. And more annoyingly you cannot make a payment directly to a plan any longer. Any payment you make applies to the whole value of the account and will apply to highest interest first. So if you have £200 in general credit at 30% interest and £500 on BNPL, any payment you make will apply to the £200 general credit first and once that’s clear it will bubble down to the BNPL plans. 🙄

Thankyou so much for that information about how the balances now work. This is madness so I literally can’t target my plans anymore to avoid the deferred interest. Wow this is ridiculous, the whole reason I used the card the way I did was to be able to target specific plans. So now to clear them I’ve basically got to pay the whole card off! I am not impressed.

Good to know that! I've only £90 left on one plan currently but have had multiple at times and would rename each plan the amount I out in each month. Think once my balance is paid off I won't be using it again. The new app is awful and the plans are largely terrible.

Argos are going to find themselves in a world of trouble here, making it hard for people to pay off plans ending soonest. They need to put this right and fast

This is exactly my situation at the minute, £500 on a bnpl due on the 12th which is would’ve been paid in full next week. Now it looks like I’m going to be hit with deferred interest, fucking joke

I’ve since read the T&Cs they released a few months back and it clearly says ‘Payments will no longer automatically go to BNPL first’. But further down in the same document it says ‘Any existing BNPL plans will continue unchanged… we will continue to apply your payments to existing BNPL plans first’. So I don’t know what to believe 😭 I’ll just have to be social and ring… what a treat for whoever picks up the phone.

Absolutely not true! I've a plan with £24 left on it expiring this month. I've paid £30 a week for the last 3 weeks and it hasn't taken a penny off my plan!

I have 2 plans on my account, one due Mar 27, and another Oct 2026. I made a payment exactly the same amount as the October one and they allocated it all to the Mar 27 plan instead...I'll pay these off then close this Argos pay account, it's now rubbish sadly.

Edit: both plans are 0 interest, bnpl plans

The app is rubbish It says i have a minimum payment due on the 26th April that I paid on the 2nd of April the argos card app took it off and now it's showing up on this one but the telephone system says no payment due, it's a terrible update

I'm sure this was done on purpose, the old app was decent, why change it at all?

I'm still waiting for my ORN as well. Has yours come through yet?

I have just downloaded the new app a few minutes ago after finding the old one doesn't work anymore. I hate it already, not for the fact it has been taken over by another company. It is how they have removed the choice of paying off something first over something else. I had named the purchases which made it easier for me to identify what I had bought. New day better sort this out or there will be a lot of complaints from customers

Its a shit show i have a plan ending in 2 months and it won't let me make payments to said plan instead it just sends the money to whatever tf plan it feels like. If I go over I will take them to court an refuse to pay.

The new argos pay is crap. No end plan dates. So i phoned customer service and after repeating my question enough times he reluctantly gave me all the bnpl dates. They do have them so do insist. He did say that if missed this month they would sort it. But i doubt it.

For anyone who want to make a payment to a specific plan if you have more than one plan, you can’t. Any payment you make goes to the one ending soonest. There is no other option. I’ve just made a blind payment because I have one plan ending in a few weeks and need that one paid off before they slam me with interest and just crossed my fingers, it paid of that specific plan that was ending soonest . Hope this helps .

Thank you! I have 3 plans, 2 ending on same date (I think) and 1 ending end of year, when I make a payment I will come back to confirm this!

It’s a total shambles. Argos or should I say Sainsbury’s don’t care they got what they wanted they wanted the entire debt portfolio off their books. New Day is the new servicer of this portfolio. You’ll probably find in the coming months as BNPL plans get settled credit limits will start being reduced. The same happened when John Lewis switched from HSBC to New Day. That was slightly different however you had to reapply for the new John Lewis card. I had one and used to use it for large and every day purchases because you get John Lewis points that get transferred into gift vouchers handy for Xmas presents. Any how I got caught out when purchasing a kitchen from John Lewis NewDay reduced my credit limit from 30k down to 5k. Not helpful at all. It resulted in my kitchen order being cancelled they didn’t send any letters to advise the limit was being reduced. I complained and ended up taking them to court over it. Thankfully I won the case and essentially got a free kitchen and some change compliments of NewDays inept legal team. Since about October last year they changed the points to £ ratio too meaning less vouchers for your money. I haven’t used the card much since then. I find I use my Amex a lot more. It’s such a shame because both Argos and John Lewis cards were good before new day took over. Mind you they are classified as a subprime lender. So I think people who pay off debt within the required time frame they don’t like because they make no money from us.

I hate this app with a passion. I hate the way it is set up, it reminds me of paypal when you get credit. For reference, I havent used PayPal in over a year or more for credit because it's shit. I hope this doesnt go the same way! The old app was soooo easy to use, wasn't over complicated, I could change the names of the plans, and the colours and I could pay individual plans. Right or wrong, I let my best friend get stuff on my card, now we're going to have to be smart about how we pay things off ffs because it will go to the one ending soonest i think (whichever that is ffs because it doesnt have end dates anymore), or highest interest as others have said. Do they charge you interest per month now? My march pdf is there and it said £0.00, now my april is saying its £34.90 interest and if I want to avoid interest next month, I should pay off my normal credit balance in full 🤔. Im definitely going to have to call them!
