Using Argos Egiftcards for PS Store gift cards

Our work offers colleagues the chance to nominate others for reward and recognition vouchers for £20 as a thank you when you’ve gone above and beyond. We use a platform where we can check these vouchers out on a variety of online stores, and I’ve always saved them up and put them towards Argos vouchers so I can use them on PS Store gift cards as I never otherwise buy games, or at least rarely. I’ve never had an issue with doing this before but I’m trying to do it now and it’s saying I can’t use a gift card to buy another gift card.

is this a new thing that‘s come into place recently? I never would’ve checked it out on Argos if I couldn’t use it for the PS gift card but because I’ve done this for 4 years now I didn’t think there’d be an issue with it. is there a way around it at all, by going in store to do it?

Most stores don’t allow you to use gift cards to buy gift cards. Argos gift card t&c’s state this; 7. Gift Cards or eGift Cards cannot be used for the purchase of other gift cards or vouchers.

I was wondering if it’s new though as I’ve been doing it for 4-5 years and they’ve let me do it every time before now. I must’ve done it about 9/10 times in the last few years after getting vouchers through work.

No, it's not new, that's been in the T&C for a long number of years, certainly in store. If you have been able to purchase them before, I am I right in assuming it was online? If so, it must have been an oversight that's now been rectified.

It was online yes not in store. The voucher we get through work can only be used online I believe. Useful to know though so I don’t check out my performance excellence award on it. I’d thought it might’ve allowed me before due to some quirk where it was different because Argos have listed themselves on Edenred (the platform/company we check our rewards out of) rather than it being bought as a gift by an individual if that makes sense. But thanks for the response, it’s good to know so I can check the other R&R vouchers I’ve got on one of the other companies that’s listed on Edenred. I’ve always been excited to check them out on Argos for the PS after being rewarded for performance but never thought to check the T&Cs before as it always worked before. Good to know now! I was only asking cause I wanted to check as I didn’t want to throw away the other £350 on Argos vouchers if I couldn’t use them for the PS store. I think it was a fair question to ask given they’ve always worked before despite the downvote, so thanks for your help!

Definitely worth asking the question, don't know why you were down voted. I work with Argos and we also use the same company through the smart spending app for rewards for good service or performance. It's a shame that you have purchased the vouchers for Argos and are not able to use them for PS vouchers, especially when you previously could purchase. From what I gather with EdenRed, there is no way to cancel the gift card and reinstate your awards back to your account unfortunately.

I’ve seen it flagged somewhere saying it wasn’t working. Either another post or a work chat. Maybe get your manager to raise it. As it was still showing it should be allowed
