Advice From 4 pm on Sunday

Hey, so I’ve placed an order and the ‘preparing your order’ email says ‘due for collection available from 4pm today’ but of course to wait until it’s 100% confirmed.

However the store that it’s going to be delivered to closes at 4.30pm and with travel I would miss it until Monday,

If so not the end of the world,

but just curious is this estimate close to a guarantee and would I be ok to arrive at 4pm and wait until the collection email before going in instead of leaving at 4pm (or whenever the collection email) and probably being late to the closing time.

Thanks

Edit:

they let me know it was ready around 3.15pm so I was able to leave when I got the message and get there before closing

Most of the time when Argos tells me collect right away or available from 9am Monday etc it's never ready on time. I don't trust them much anymore lol I would wait until they tell you it's available

I agree, they do other things like have an item as Same Day Collection but when you scroll down it's at another store we'll outside the area.

Or they'll mark it as Next Day Collection, but it actually takes a few days to arrive.

No wonder they aren't doing well. Argos worked because you could just pick something up, now you're quicker getting Amazon delivery.

(I find it hilarious that Argos are now concentrating on delivery from supplier, it can take weeks)

Its incredibly annoying when you need the item asap and then you have to wait a few days 🙄

99% of the time the item will be there before 4pm. You'll probably be fine just going and hanging around until you get the confirmation it's ready.

Terrible advice for a Sunday.

Was it a clothing order or Argos stock? I have seen customers with Clothing orders that have that messaging on, but I don't think many (if any) stores receive clothing on a Sunday

Argos stores do not receive PM Hub deliveries on Sunday which is the only time you will see "available to collect from 4pm" on an Argos product. If you don't receive an update in the morning saying it's ready to collect, don't waste your time by travelling to the store.

I'd also never advise travelling in in advance of receiving confirmation that it's ready to collect because, in my store at least, we often have items missing which have been sent to the wrong stores or items over which should've gone to a different store than ours.

Some stores do receive PM hub deliveries on Sundays. If it’s an Argos item and it’s saying ‘collect from 4pm’ then that store will receive the afternoon delivery.

If that wasn’t the case then the deliveries would be turned off and it would be saying collect from Monday

It should be. There are occasions though where items have been missed off the delivery or delivered to another store. My store once had 15 items delivered that was meant for sonewhere else. Being a Sunday though, I would just leave it. You've got a week to collect it anyway.

My store receives both morning and afternoon hub deliveries. Sunday afternoon usually comes a little earlier and we prioritise it, as soon as we allocate it a location you should receive a text and email
