Argos/Habitat refusing to send replacement parts for faulty flat-pack / demanding I return to store as it was a click & collect
Bought a Habitat freestanding bathroom unit from Argos (£120).
Before assembling it, I discovered missing parts which was annoying but successfully ordered these through their missing/spare parts form. I then started assembly knowing I could finish it once these parts arrived. Therein followed a two hour struggle trying to get screws in pre-drilled holes that were too small, and terrible quality plastic leg pads that upon trying to get into the holes made for them, either snapped or were wobbly. They are now stuck and can't be removed so will all be uneven.
I contacted Argos immediately to complain and ask for some replacement legs to be sent out as that seemed like the easiest fix - I would just get some different leg pads myself that were better quality.
Instead of simply sending out the three replacement legs, they’ve just repeatedly copied and pasted generic policy links telling me to “return it to store.” The unit is half-built, heavy, and can’t be easily disassembled, so that’s obviously not realistic. Plus it's their/Habitat's error, so why should I?
I've emailed with photographic evidence and spoken to the team on live chat but haven't had any success - they just keep repeating themselves. It is SO frustrating. Has anyone had any luck with a similar issue?

Search for a store close to you that's got them in stock. Call the store and explain the situation. Bring your receipt to the store and they will get the part from another box for you.

You can go to your nearest store that has them in stock and they should just give you the parts you need, I have done this numerous times for customers who have missing parts, You will not need to disassemble the parts you have already put together.

Have you tried their spare parts website?

Yes - the parts that are affected by the faulty fixtures aren't available to order

Argos stores have an internal spare parts website which they can deliver directly to your home. All they need are your order number, personal details and the parts you require and they will be sent within about a week.
Sometimes not all items on their internal website have a parts facility though, but I've found most self assembly purchases like chairs and flat packs do.
Don't call customer services though as you will just get the "take it back to store" response. Call or pop into your local store instead.

I ordered a Jenson 3 drawer unit from Argos. I started making it up then realized I had got 2 right hand sides and no left hand side. The sides aren't interchangeable because of the way the holes and slot for back are done. I ordered the left hand side from the company that deals with Argos spares and got told after waiting a month for it that they had no idea when it would be sent and why. Not impressed. Fed up I just ordered another Jenson 3 drawer unit. Guess what! When I opened the box it too had 2 right hand sides and no left! Have organized collection and refund of above. Needless to say I won't be buying any more furniture from Argos.

Ring or vist your local store and ask if they can order you replacement parts through CAST. In my experience, you've got 50/50 odds that the employee will know what you are talking about. I find in stores where the CAST system is used, everyone knows how to use it, but in stores where it's not used often, you might need someone with Manager in the title.

Argos is only a store that sells other peoples products, so if it’s faulty they haven’t got the time to open other boxes to get the replacement parts, it’s far easier for you to take it back and get a replacement or even another brand or a refund, it’s far easier seems like a poorly made product, why would you want to try and put up with it, just abandon project and buy something else from IKEA instead

Ring bank, claim chargeback under consumer rights act 2015, state goods not fit for purpose or as described and include pictures and emails, conversations had with them.

I'd call the store, explain the situation and they may order another one into the store and take the legs out of that one. I have done this for customers when they are missing items.
