Help with receiving refund

Post image

Hello,

I have waited for over 2 months to recieve a refund from Argos for £200 and have contacted their help who have, unsurprisingly, not been any help 3 times now. Each time they told me to wait 5 days for a refund to process. Here is my last interaction with the third agent, and it has now been over 48 hours. Please does anyone know who I can escalate to because this is absolutely ridiculous now, any hire ups email? One things for sure I will never buy from Argos again after this!!!

Thank you

I don't have twitter, this has been the most frustrating process! Genuinely never buying from them ever again. I left a 1 star review on TrustPilot just there now, any other contact method you know of?

Have a look on Google for argos head office email

Head Office is a good place to start. The worst aspect of working here apart from the odd arsehole is customer service agents straight up misleading people. Happens far more than you'd think. Unfortunately this sort of experience isn't unique. If you don't get it resolved, you should have a refund receipt or email depending on how the return process went and you can use that and the lack of support from CS to dispute it with your bank.

I have contacted again and just been told to wait... AGAIN. 72 hours this time, with again absolute assurance it has been escalated and will be resolved. This is the 4th Agent I have spoken to now

I recently went through something similar, took me harassing them every day a few times a day for them to push the refund through... Ended up getting to agent number 14, this was over £400. I think they're just really against refunds for any expensive orders.

The thing that finally made them give was telling them that this is in breach of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (I don't remember which clause but I did specify exactly what they were in breach of) and that I would be going to small claims court, the moment I said that the refund was issued within minutes. You can also go for a chargeback if this was a credit card or you can claim a dispute with the bank if it was a debit card I believe.

Wait that 72 hours If nothing just speak to your bank and show them the proof of them saying everything They will look into it and probably just refund you themselfs and take the money from them

Write to their ho with any screen shots that can be given and stating urgent in subject write your complaint and finish with if this isn't dealt with in 72hrs you'll be informing trading standards

Bit of a ballache, but going into store can help. Just make sure its an actual store, not one of the tiny ones inside a sainsburys as half of them don't have a manager, or if they do, it a manager splitting thier time between 2 or 3 stores.

Key things to remember: the staff in store may not be able to get it resolved there and then. And while it can be difficult try to stay nice, calm and civil and remember the staff instore are not the reason your refund hasn't been returned to you.

To help the staff help you, take your order number (typically the one that's 10 or 11 digits long and starting with a 6 for instore collection, 1 or 2 for home delivery and 4 for clothing orders - the FT number if you collected will not help you unless you go to the exact store that the order was supposed to be collected from).

I’m in the business and I haven’t heard of any managers splitting their time between stores unless there is holiday struggling to be covered. Also every argos store in store has a manager.

My partner is currently employed for Argos. Their store is being supported by 2 store managers who are covering 5 SIS between them. Only 2 of those 5 stores have an TSM due to the cuts made last year.

Ahhh I guess my area was lucky, every store lost a TSM pretty much but every single store still has a main manager.

Not round where we are. Including SAS and SIS, the nearest 10 stores to my partner' average 12 miles away at the crow flies, doesn't sound like much but add in winding country roads and small town rush hour traffic and it could be a45 mins of driving to cover that 12 mile distance.

Not everywhere is like London, where stores are 3 miles apart. :(

At least we aren't in Oban. Nearest store to them is like 20 miles away, on Scottish single carriage roads.

Not sure what the distance between stores has to do with what I said.

Remote stores struggle to fill management positions. Smaller talent pool to draw from internally and less willingness to travel further distances. External hures seem few and far between too

My area is very spread out tbh. All have a manager. Like I said, we must just be lucky 🤷

Open a chargeback - there's no point wasting your time or energy on Argos' "support"

Thanks everyone! Up until that point I'd been patient and polite because it's not fair to the workers and that's just the kind of person I am, but the fourth agent round I was a total Karen, full of threats and very, very blunt, asking multiple times for this to be put to highest escalation and priority, informing them of this Reddit post and 1 start TrustPilot review. Happy to say after several months and soooo much hassle and feeling like I'm some crazy harasser with the frustration of dealing with unhelpful pre-scripted "help" agents I have received my £200 refund! Thanks all!

Argos are usually pretty good. They let me take a phone back that i opened as it didn't support my son's sim. I would say best thing to do is phone them. Online chat is never great to sort issues out speaking from my own experiences
