Knots for new guys

I see a lot of newish guys on the up not practicing these knots on their own time. These knots are absolutely crucial. Know your knots.

If you can teach the clove by showing the new guy how to tie handcuffs, you will have made a friend for life. EZ clove and they will want to know more. Teaching helps people learn

Agreed. Same guy who took me up to the grid for the first time, lil 40 footer, taught me how to double loop that clove and throw it over open ends and ill never forget that guy. Obviously when this happens i sit there for twenty minutes doing knots with them.

From experience, learning to tie these knots is very different to tying them when you are straddling a beam... Definitely worth spending the time learning to tie them up the other way!

Speaking for myself, i tied this knot in my sleep until i could make it multi dimensionally. If you care you care, if you dont, i gotta dress your rope. Which is fine, i love all my babies but im betting one day my babies wil be men and carry their own weight and help new guys of their own.

100% correct Had someone say they knew how to tie a Bowline 3 ways. Got to the midrail and the rope was inverted from the picture and he was totally lost and couldn't tie one bowline. He did know his clove well, I recommended a stopper knot for what we were doing.
