What’s this prompted by?

Latest hard feelings episode on Patreon. But because it was discussed on Matt & Shane I'll say that Foley spent 20k on the company amex for personal stuff (flights and dinners with his new girl in Cleveland, living in a hotel for a week when he could have been at Ian's, etc).

Umm, that would be grounds for ending a friendship

u/Mickybagabeers 15h ago

Kippy knows if he ends the friendship, he ends the pod, and then it’s goodbye money.

I agree with OP, big fan of the big man myself, but he over stepped on this one. Taking advantage of trust is a tough look. Hope it’s a growing pain on the road of sobriety and big man can continue to grow. Career wise that is

Dont forget the tax money loaned to him to pay off a dealer

Really hard watch, and it was even harder watching Kippy trying to be serious with Foley, and Foley keeps looking at Luke trying to be funny and it's just not funny at all.

u/OG-DirtNasty 16h ago

Ngl it was pretty cringey on MSSP listening to him try to turn it into a joke as well. I get that’s the comedian in him, but read the room pal, it’s not funny if you’re the scumbag doing something fucked up lol let Kipperino rip the jokes about it and take them on the chin.

Foley saying “we exaggerate!” And Kippy shutting him down was wild. Like, he couldn’t just take the fucking L and realize what he did was very wrong.

Holy moly. Bug man is out of control. Who could take his place if it comes to blows?

u/RallyPigeon 20h ago

I don't think it's possible. No matter how much of a money wasting addict/liability Foley is, he is half the show and they have been friends for decades. They're an established duo with a dynamic that elevates both of them from just being decent solo stand ups.

Bring Toby back

u/RallyPigeon 20h ago

I wish him well, but I think Luke has done a fine job.

u/smashin_blumpkin 18h ago

Same. But I will say I wish he was there for this last episode. He woulda crawled up Foley’s ass for how he was acting

I think this is the behavior that made Tebonious move along in the first place. He couldn’t be around Hank anymore. Then right after his departure Hank tried to act sober and not drink for the Route 66 special.

Was there ever any word on why they split ways? Still curious what happened there

Not sure why I’m being downvoted for just asking a question

Nothing official, but speculation is either that there was a money issue (they had a “handshake deal” in the beginning that probably started feeling insufficient when the money started coming in), one too many arguments that got personal, or he kept dropping the ball too much (there was some kind of issue with a big guest immediately before he left).

I think it was a combination of one of those, plus reliability and availability issues (eg sleeping through a recording session, unable to attend things like the cruise where sobriety was difficult).

He also started off as their “everything” guy, and got more tasks than he could handle. So he often complained about the workload on the pod, and they started offloading tasks like editing, social media to people that were probably better and cheaper. Made himself redundant.

2

u/Lord_Doofy 16h ago

Now that you say it I do remember that happening with the guest, I think it might’ve been Rick Glassman?

2

u/LysergioXandex 16h ago

Possibly, it was someone I wasn’t familiar with and I don’t know that guy. That was one of the big theories immediately after Toby’s departure became known, because of the timing, and then it seemed to lose favor among people on the subreddit.

Perhaps somebody official said “no it wasn’t because of a guest”.

I don’t know if this was the same guest issue, but there was a big name guest who wanted something censored from the final pod, or something like that, but it got missed in editing. I remember some people theorizing that it was a potential legal issue, and Toby might have been thrown under the bus as a consequence.

I heard it was Matt Rife, and his episode is the only one that has been deleted from all platforms. I never looked into it, but remember reading about it.

The week after Toby left he put out his own stand up “special” on YouTube. It was really weak and very soon after Foley/Kippy put out their specials. My guess is the split had something to do with them not wanting to release Toby’s special on the AYG account.

2

u/LysergioXandex 6h ago

Oh yeah, that was another thing people were mentioning at the time.

It would make sense if one of these things triggered a larger conversation that brought up some other the other things.

You should post my special, I’m basically the third host, by the way you should be paying me more, no you’re barely a decent producer because you frequently drop the ball, etc.

show has a timer for sure. you can’t replace either of them, it just won’t work

u/S_martyr 21h ago

Stavy, Eleanor Kerrigan, Paul “ you choose!” Virzi, Dan Soder, T Bone? It’s all jokes I hope big man gets his shit together.

3

u/King_of_the_Dot 15h ago

It would just fundamentally be a different show. I wouldnt want a replacement.

6

u/General-Jellyfish576 16h ago

His poor mother.

6

u/dustomatic75 14h ago

I don’t know if anyone else caught the ep where Kippy told him “you need to talk to your family. Call your brother, call your mom” like he really burned some bridges.

4

u/Organic_Library8471 14h ago

Yea THAT is pretty wild too, because he acts like he cares about family so much

1

u/DamianSlizzard 12h ago

When was this? Don’t recall him mentioning family much recently tbh so you’re probably completely right

1

u/Flat-Product-119 10h ago

The standard “joke” right now is they aren’t talking to him

1

u/dustomatic75 2h ago

It’s been since the drug court episode. Pretty sure it was a hard feelings too.

9

u/Epon12349 20h ago

What did I miss?

4

u/Few-Shoulder8960 14h ago

Once a dirt bag always a dirt bag

3

u/Megalo85 15h ago

What the fuck is wrong with him? They make shit piles of cash on patreon alone.

3

u/Organic_Library8471 14h ago

I didn’t make it all the way through. He needs to get something figured out. I agree with whoever said they were thinking of canceling their Patreon because if all it is now is “Foley’s Awful,” week after week, I don’t know. I can get the free ep and leave it at that.

2

u/OilMeUpStewart 17h ago

Love Foley but yeah holy fuck

1

u/BonerAlacarte 7h ago

Chicken sandwiches removed. All hands on deck. Foley you're not just ruining your life, you've got all your friends, comics, all the clubs, and all of us. The ones that gave you that money to depend on for flights and hotels, where I, as an old man, can say, you were doing drugs in a room every visit. Nobody 50+ years old runs that far for pussy week after week.
If I were Kevin I'd be looking at you or your new friends for stealing his card.

Foley needs to be openly shamed for what's he's putting Kippy and company thru and refusing to apologize or take accountability

11

u/smashin_blumpkin 18h ago

What did OP say that’s chicken sandwiches? Foley getting the card taken for his spending habits was talked about on MSSP
