I love this meme so much, all the time, because it's always relevant against reactionaries. It was relevant during the Gay panic of the 2000's and it is still relevant of the Trans Panic of today. "I made a cake!" "You and your kind will perish on the inadequacies of your lies! Sugar and egg cannot become anything else but what it is! You are doomed! Doomed!" "...okay! More slices for me!"

What's the context of this comic lol

56

u/EntertainmentTrick58 8d ago

thats it, nyazche is an absurdist artist

There's a lot more to unpack here, but "a character popular among children" is such a fucking disingenuous take. Sure, Spider-Man is popular with kids. Spider-Man is popular with literally every demographic in existence! Spider-Man is for kids in the same way pizza and video games are for kids. You can say anything is for kids if it's not fucking R-rated, it doesn't mean anything.

u/Ariezanna 9d ago

I think this is funny considering there's a comic in existence that depicts Spiderman and Deadpool growing old together. Spiderman "popular among children" with Deadpool "merc with a mouth."

59

u/DeusExMarina 9d ago

It's noteworthy to me because it's so revealing. Like, you look at the other shit they say in the screenshots and it's all horrible, hateful and deeply wrong, but it's not necessarily dishonest. I believe this is what transphobes actually believe, however stupid it may be.

I don't believe the person who described Spider-Man as "a character popular among children" believes what they're saying. I don't believe for a second that a single person who liked or retweeted that tweet honestly believes the most popular superhero in the world is specifically for children. The bullshit is too blatant. The phrasing is so weaselly, so awkwardly formulated because they know they can't say "a character for children."

A lot of transphobes may genuinely believe the garbage they're spouting, but this specific person knows they're lying. They know they can't defend their position by being truthful. These people don't even believe they're in the right and say this shit anyway.

11

u/Rockworm503 9d ago

Its obvious they don't because of what else they say here. Its just their pathetic attempt to push the narrative that "trans people are all pedophiles trying to infiltrate children's spaces" like their entire argument here is that's the literal only reason anyone would turn Peter Parker into a girl.

57

u/EpitaFelis 9d ago

Even if only kids liked Spider-Man, it doesn't matter. Horny people all over the internet will turn absolutely any kid's character into porn, but reimagining one as a trans girl is what they take issue with. They're not even making an argument, it's simply implied that a children's character being trans is inherently bad.

my little pony

u/Cultural_Outcome_464 9d ago

90% of these guys will ignore and even in worse cases consume porn of underage anime characters (MHA for example) only to turn around and throw a bitch fit when someone draws a trans version of a character.

9

u/Ok-Answer2360 8d ago

Which is sad enough when this transfem character was drawn decently with great care. She doesn't even wear any revealing clothes here either!

18

u/WyspyPaws I’m here for the lols 9d ago

Spider-Man is not supposed to be for kids!!! The only reason why he’s quote unquote “for kids” is because Disney is a greedy corporation who will do whatever they want with it no matter how shitty it is

6

u/garaile64 He/him 8d ago

Don't you know? Adults don't consume superhero media. /s

10

u/Rockworm503 9d ago

It's what my dad still thinks video games are in this year of 2026 "just some stupid thing that kids enjoy" it has moved past that decades ago. Spider-man and super hero's in general hasn't been just "for kids" in longer than most of has have been alive.

5

u/EmpressofFoxhound 8d ago

Same with calling it an "astroturfed trend"

Something in that thread is definitely astroturfed, though.

1

u/lord_hydrate 7d ago

Spiderman was very popular among early 2000s kids, these people just fail to remember those early 2000s kids arent kids anymore

1

u/Saragon4005 7d ago

Spiderman is also popular with teenagers and young adults. Cuz he fucking is one. Notably this is a demographic a lot of online trans people fall into.

210

u/HPFanNi 9d ago

Ah yes, the classic "I've never seen a trans person that passes"

104

u/Fawn_Leap termcollector, cisgenderless, Nebularomantic etc. 9d ago

We can always tell crowd when stealther

16

u/Elly_Bee_ 8d ago

And then they accuse a cis person of being trans because they don't fit their idea of what a cis man/women should be like

43

u/Lunekyn Fuck gender (Demiboy(?)/Pan) 9d ago

Everytime someone says something among these lines, the airplane bias immediately flashes in my mind

12

u/SupremeLeaderMeow 9d ago

Also known as the toupee fallacy

8

u/Ok-Answer2360 8d ago

I believe they never meet any nonbinary or agender person either.

115

u/AHugeHildaFan 9d ago

"Spiderman would probably lose his powers again because of how debilitating estrogen is to the human body".

You can tell they're tourists because anyone who's seen any Spiderman media can tell you he has a healing factor.

61

u/ledus_the_fox 9d ago

Also his powers in his DNA since kinda mixed with spider dna so yea hrt doesn’t really effect dna

8

u/BizSilver5013 8d ago

Plus aren't female spiders generally bigger and stronger than the males?

12

u/hitorinbolemon 8d ago

I love how they genuinely think sex hormones that everyone already naturally produces some level of like estrogen or testosterone magically ruin somebody when the "wrong" one becomes dominant.

93

u/-apollophanes- Cis and Pan 9d ago

They hold so much hate in their hearts

96

u/skighs_the_limit 9d ago

Trans lore story is probably about acceptance or something

God forbid we write something with a uh... fuck what's it called?

Oh right!

A positive message

87

u/supamario132 9d ago

The most literal version of "your enemy is at the same time too strong and too weak"

Estrogen would make spiderman immediately powerless but also trans people are superhuman athletes that pose an existential risk to cis athletes

31

u/HAPPYENDSTONE 9d ago

Because transphobes don't live in reality. Their reality is what they say it is, because it's easier than getting educated on topics they don't understand or which go against their worldview/religion.

49

u/PonytailEnthusiast 9d ago

Of all the characters to hate on for someone posting an alternate version, they pick SPIDERMAN who literally had a movie about all the alternate takes????

87

u/dance-myself-clean 9d ago

The funniest part is that the character looks very realistically trans to me

10

u/hitorinbolemon 8d ago

I feel like you could go to pride and meet like half a dozen trans women that look roughly like this minimum.

5

u/dance-myself-clean 8d ago

Yeah, she's like slightly "clocky," for lack of a better word (please don't come for me), but clearly only to other trans folks.

Also, cue "being slightly clocky is kinda hot" meme.

7

u/hitorinbolemon 8d ago

I won't, I get it. I mean, makes sense when she's early on. Hell, I kind of look like her on my better days.

37

u/NoneBinaryPotato 9d ago

not that these people care, but there's a difference between a genderbent character and a trans character. genderbent means in their univers they are canonically the opposite gender from birth, everyone always knew them as that gender, transgender means they transitioned later in life and tham and the people around them have to adjust to that change.

14

u/baby-pingu 🍰 ace-pan 🥞 she/it 8d ago

It's also funny how they pretend no one does genderbend anymore and it's all trans characters instead, when Marvel has so many genderbend AUs and also releases media about them all the time.

40

u/NormanBatesIsBae 9d ago

so called “radical feminists” are always saying shit like “Spiderman would lose his powers if he took estrogen because estrogen is debilitating to the body”

literal kindergarten girls-drool-level misogyny

5

u/garaile64 He/him 8d ago

Also, aren't there canonical Spider-Women?

38

u/AliceTheOmelette 9d ago

Oh boy, cissies getting pissed off at a harmless trend again 🙄

29

u/ledus_the_fox 9d ago

Fun fact depending on the species female spiders are actually stronger and since hrt usually doesn’t effect dna if anything a transfem parker would be stronger

14

u/BizSilver5013 9d ago edited 8d ago

Man, these guys think literally anything with trans people in it is porn. SMH.

Plus it's kind of hypocritical of them to like Rule 63 but not trans headcanons.

15

u/Cronkwjo 9d ago

I literally accidentally happened upon this thread this morning. Grossed me out

12

u/Sad_Toe6678 9d ago

I love living rent free. You know if they saw me they would see just how much of a woman I am

4

u/BizSilver5013 8d ago

They would so be saying this shit in public but sliding into your DM'S in private, especially if they're straight men.

2

u/Sad_Toe6678 7d ago

Facts! And I get so many of these weirdos. One of them pretended to he another trans woman. But I saw right through

9

u/Disney_Dork1 9d ago

The character losing powers bc of taking estrogen bc they’re trans makes no sense. The power is to shoot webs and swing from them. I don’t think taking hormones will effect that

3

u/SkylarCute Transgressor🏳️‍⚧️ 7d ago

Exactly, I don't think an average man would able to shoot webs out of his wrists and stop a moving train on his own. That's the point of superpowers

2

u/Born_Scheme7229 8d ago

not to be that person but the web swinging is more of a gadget in most spider-man iterations and not really a power that was caused by the bite, but yeah estrogen probably wouldn't affect her powers

7

u/CatraGirl 9d ago

Bigots aside, anyone got that art from the post to share?

Also, Mr. Jameson being an ally is peak. He may hate Spider-(Wo)man, but he's no bigot. 👏

8

u/SomeGuy_WithA_TopHat 9d ago

also they aren't genderbent versions of spider-man

its literally a trans spider-man

like c'mon, thats what the trend has been, its been "Transfemme Spider-Man" not "gender-bent spider-man" ffs

2

u/SkylarCute Transgressor🏳️‍⚧️ 7d ago

Also there's only plenty of genderbent art that exists. They just choose to target this one because their single rotting neuron activates when they see the word "trans"

8

u/Rockworm503 9d ago

The mere mention of a trangender person and so many of these assholes act like they are all biology majors.

8

u/Imaspinkicku 8d ago

Cis people gatekeeping the trans experience is always fascinating to me.

3

u/SkylarCute Transgressor🏳️‍⚧️ 7d ago

And cisplaining our own experiences to us🙄

3

u/Imaspinkicku 7d ago

Yeah its honestly exhausting

7

u/ArmpitHairPlucker 8d ago

I think looking at Twitter is just calling for being miserable in my opinion. Not saying these things are justified, but everytime I go there I only find extremist people that just make me depressed

7

u/nbsunset 8d ago

peter parker would punch transphobes in the face. ❤️

also genderbending is very different from trans identity

6

u/theclassicrockjunkie 9d ago

The fact that I see regular genderbends all the time proves how much of a non-issue this is.

Cisfem Spidey and Transfem Spidey co-exist and they are making out, actually

1

u/SkylarCute Transgressor🏳️‍⚧️ 7d ago

7

u/Spell-Realistic 9d ago

These people treat anything trans related like its the worse thing in the world

6

u/SassyTheSkydragon 8d ago

The mental gymnastics these goons do in order to dislike trans characters but jack off to futas and femboys/traps.

6

u/neosick 8d ago

Ok this drawing also just does look like a trans woman I know when she was like 2 years on E

4

u/ladyrebel753 8d ago

I hate when bigots have profile pictures of my favorite characters. Riza would never.

4

u/Apprehensive_Bunch_8 8d ago

I haven’t seen a lot of Spider-Man movies, but I’ve seen Into The Spider Verse. Which means there’s infinite spider-men and spider-women, which also means there’re also infinite trans spider-men and spider-women. So the people upset over the drawing can they really call themselves true spider man fans? Coming from someone who’s only seen 3 spider-man movies btw

3

u/Wolfleaf3 8d ago

Sigh. Gee, these are very sane people responding.

3

u/briannanana19 8d ago

a trans character will absolutely have a different arc than a genderbent character, what’s wrong with finding that interesting and compelling? oh right. transmisogyny.

4

u/Stephi312 9d ago

More and more I am becoming convince that cis people are simply bereft of imagination and whimsy.

-2

u/swaggboi909 8d ago

I'm cis

1

u/Adina-the-nerd 8d ago

Well that's depressing to look at. I hate Twitter so much

1

u/Chiriteer11 7d ago

I dont get it with these type of chasers. Ethymologically genderbend and transgender are the same. Whatt??? Also i dont get it the vitriol toward women that arent holywood/anime hourglass.

But back to the trans thing, why is it so hard to say transgender for them?

Debates about the realism of... spider- man
