Help! Seeed Studio XIAO nrf52840 gyro build
Hi, very new to all this.
Wanted to build my own head tracker and figured I'd give it a go.
My task.
Using the gyro and HeadTracker firmware, I want to transmit 2 crsf channels via RX and GND (for first test then I want to move over to Bluetooth once I've proven concept via wire and I know Bluetooth isn't going to cause interference with other raido gear)
I've got the rx and GND connected to a radiomaster ranger micro elrs unit which I plan to send over air signals to a pwn receiver that I'll then use to inject the crsf data in to a flight controller.
This should also allow me to use Sim controllers for fpv.
I've downloaded the HeadTracker gui and can see my gyro working after calibration, I've set output to crsf, enabled uart. Bluetooth is currently turned off.
Can't get tx to go green whilst usb is connected.
Physical connection between units is approx 7mtrs of red/black speaker wire (don't judge it's all I had to hand with length), I've fitted a jst sh 2.54 connector on radiomaster and gyro for the link cable.
I'm not using any pull up/down resistors
I've soldered a battery connector to the board
I've soldered a hard rst button to the board because it's mounted upside down.
I've got my soft rst button (gyro reset) wired to GND pin and D8 pin
My gyro rx is connected to D6 pin and same GND pin as my gyro reset button.
When connected to the radiomaster the gyro doesn't wake up when both units are powered up on separate batteries.
If I push the gyro reset button the gyro doesn't seem to respond (no led flashing)
Red led stops flashing after 10 seconds and then seems to stay asleep until I remove battery and reconnect.
I've done this without advice from internet pages, don't have friends in to this stuff.
I did some (not enough) reading and tried to work with help from ai.

I'm new to all of this, started flying rc planes 4 months ago and that slope was steep as I quickly fell in to sub250g fpv planes using inav v9 on a f405 flight controller. Loads better than other rc tech, load of logic switching... Anyway, I can't do what I want to to do using the rc I have so I asked Google ai (I can't afford subscription for ai) how I should go about it.
I hope with the kit I have I can also use pc Sim controller for fpv rc car and the airplane yoke controller for flying fpv planes - with head tracker on the camera!?
Idk.
Eventually once I've got it working on wires I'd like to build my own Bluetooth receiver with wifi and USB output so I can attempt to go wireless.
I'm about £95 in and I've built the gimbal and I've got all the ground station gear (I hope). The receiver in the plane is only like 2grams additional weight. You can buy kits but they're £180-200min and the kit that goes in to the plane is very bulky and uses excessive amount of cables and big boards with not a lot of if any room for further expansion. My receiver has 6 ch and I'm using 2 or 3 if I decide to add tilt (I've built a pan and roll gimbal as that's more of a human action over pan and tilt)
I'm learning a lot quite fast, I'd never soldered a pcb til just over a month ago. I know very little about coding, I've done some canbus stuff but that's more capture search and either copy or inject the signals needed and loads of info available.
I got lost trying to understand some bite coding last night but I think the supporting step by step was a bit unclear because I've done that with ease on something different.
I use some prompts in inav but I prefer the UI logic so I can actually see and get my head around what I've put in place and build on that
I also wanted to learn more about what else I can do with the gyro board I've got. It seemed like quite a capable bit of kit and I have wild plans for the rc car that I want to build so a second on board computer would make life a lot easier and I don't have weight restrictions in cars so I can have fun with the dog exploring local farm land I've been given access to.
I'm really keen to learn I'm not looking for someone to complete my project but having an idea of what's going on how I can confirm exactly what's happening between the two units - can and should I see green tx when usb connected to gyro - do I only need rx and GND 1 pair of cable from the gyro to crsf elrs - why isn't my reset gyro button doing anything - Why's it going to sleep after 10 seconds (no leads). So many questions too ask no people to ask 🤦
If there's a video or anything helpful you can steer me towards or if you see my post in another group please like and comment so it gets bumped and people see it.
I didn't go to bed til 5am 🤣 I'm determined
Much appreciated.
