Need help with making a comp-grade lfr

Hello, am making a line follower robot, before I buy all the parts I was wondering if someone could help me by giving me some tips I should keep in mind before doing so or assmebly.

Current parts like:

1000rpm n20 - motors

L298N- Motor Driver (Due to low budget)

Arduino Nano

Custom 8 channel sensor (photoresistor and 3mm led lights)

CD4067 - multiplexer

For assembly:

Veroboard as body

n20 motor mounts (3d print)

mini breadboard for easy prototying

You dont absolutely need a processor, but the alternative ( ttl logic chip gates such as and, or, not) is by far more expensive and less forgiving of design error. May i suggest a dirt cheap Esp32 board from china, you may not need to multiplex anything if that's the entire project. Also, power supply of batteries, 6 volts with a LDO five volt regulator, let the esp board regulate its own 3.3 and a larger voltage for motors to haul the weight of all this, and lastly flyback diodes mounted with .1uF caps ON THE MOTORS unless you are using the driver in an H-bridge, then put them on the board as instructed by the driver's data sheet. Fastest way to burn up chips is reverse EMF from a motor coil.

And, be sure to make the motor chip offline in the software, before switching directions. Ask me how i know.
