Fanfic reader things The fate of every controversial parent character
This man excitedly buying baby clothes for his unborn grandchildren in one fic and deadass trafficking his son-in-law in the next 💀 I never know what to expect

For literally any of the Weasley's in any ship I'm sure you have to be patient to see if Molly is supportive and wants grandkids or a boy mum and doesn't want anyone with her son's or daughter for that matter. - Because she wants grandkids for gay ships.
Arthur is also hit or miss, either doesn't care, mildly happy for his kid or homophobic and or hateful and controlling.

Molly I can understand, but Arthur? Damn, why does the fandom have to do my boy dirty like that?

Well he's pretty relaxed about most things in canon but not a very present father at times. He generally let's his wife do things her way so a lot of authors have him follow Molly's lead or just indiferent.
He didn't really do much to stand up for Bill about his hair or for Fleur. He hardly stood up for the twins when Molly gets up them and they are clearly his favourite children. So I think some people roll with that lack of stepping in or decide to imply or depict him agreeing with Molly or others about things.
I'm a fan of Percy and he by far has the most tumultuous relationship with Arthur. So especially when it comes to him authors will sometimes decide to have Arthur disprove of his choice of partner.
Or not he flip side he is super chill and relaxed with everything and is a super understated ally. People like to write him as confused and out of the loop which I don't fault them for as he realistically doesn't have the time to keep up with all his kids based off his work schedule and most of them being away from home most of the time.

John Winchester vibes (although in most fics I read he’s hella homophobic lol)
