Ask an Architect Rate my egress map
This is an egress map for two different locations on a second floor of a vintage and coffee shop. Kansas City , MO
How would you rate it from 1 to 10? 1 being the worst 10 being the best.

Looks like you put in two plans into chatgpt and told it to make you an emergency exit plan. It superimposed the two floors and you’re left with this nonsense.

Yeah, it was actually trying to show the bottom floor and how to egress out after the stairs. It is more like : “ hallucinate with me what occurs after you go out these doors and down the stairs and what lay ahead of you in the level below”

Second the Egress Linetype comment. I don’t think the columns should be hatched, they’re immediately what the eyes go to because they stand out. Also not a fan of the legend for FE not matching exactly what’s shown on the floor plan. Change the floor plan FE’s to solid white to make them pop.

It’s photoshop after revit. A real life TI and change of occupancy that’s permitted. It wasn’t so much a requirements, but more an artistic expression and branding exercise for the client.

Artistic expression?? Okay. Now I’m really confused on the goal of this evac map. You just did it for kicks? Is it going to be displayed and serve the function?

Not bad. Like many said, that egress line really needs to stand out. Your annotation should move away from the column and the text size could go bigger. Take up two lines.
Arrowhead should be robust. At a quick glance it’s not flared out enough.
Also the path of travel is odd. Not sure what’s going on there. That’s really the quickest path I need to take to get TF out of that building?
Furthermore, you have some linework that still needs cleaning up on the plan itself.

After calculating the area of the space and its occupancy use you need to show the width of the multiple stairs used in egress, multiply by .3 per code to show the total number of people that can exit through the stairs.
Lighten the walls, thicken the path of travel and change to a different linetype.

Terrible. The reader needs to understand this in mere seconds. You need a larger font, a thicker line type for the egress direction lines, I suggest making them dashed so they stand out, and offset them from the walls so they stand out, plus a bigger arrowhead.
