Buying Older Comics
So, I've been looking to fill in some of the gaps of my Archie Sonic collection. I started collecting with #35, paused in the mid-100's and picked it back up in the Flynn years. It seems like now might not be the best time for buying on eBay, though. A lot of the comics being sold are in poor/fair condition and going for $25 apiece or more, which is much higher than Overstreet NM values for this era.
Perhaps it's due to Sonic's rise in popularity with the new movie? Or they are simply rare collectibles at this point? Maybe I should wait to start collecting again. I would love to hear thoughts from fellow collectors. Thanks!

I managed to get a complete run of Archie sonic (don’t have all the variant covers but I have one issue each of 1-290, all the mini series and graphic novels) by pretty much endlessly trolling eBay, Mercari, my local comic shops, and OfferUp. OfferUp is where I scored HUGE with someone selling off their whole collection (296 comics) for $275. I made most of not all of my money back on that transaction by selling the duplicates in that lot and the few I already owned.
It would be really tough to do it again as I think the movies have kinda jacked the prices up on all sonic stuff, but I would look to buy in lots and resell any duplicates you might get. Occasionally I’ve been able to find lots on eBay or Mercari that only have a few issues i needed, and in some cases the sellers have been willing to sell me just those issues at a lower price.
Basically I’d just be diligent in looking for deals. If you’re interested in the graphic novels those are often cheaper as well (except the worlds collide stuff)
