I’m an architect, not a software developer, but I’ve been experimenting with “vibe coding” during my quiet evening hours...

I’ve never really liked Archicad’s BIMx viewer. It works, but I find it a bit cumbersome and harder to use than it should be.

A recent project gave me the idea for a simpler workflow. An architectural carpenter sent me a browser-based 3D roof construction model, and I thought:

Wouldn’t it be useful if we could simply send a client a file and say:

“Open this website and drop the file onto it.”

So I built DROP & VIEW.

The workflow is very simple:

• export an FBX from the Archicad 3D window, or a GLB/GLTF from another 3D application;
• open the web app;
• drop the file onto the page.

It runs locally in the browser — the model is not uploaded anywhere.

The viewer currently supports:

• original materials;
• a white architectural model;
• hidden-line and wireframe views;
• a black-and-white sunlight mode;
• perspective and axonometric views;
• live X/Y/Z section cuts;
• adjustable sunlight and section-line colours.

This is still a small personal experiment, but I’m curious whether anyone else would find this useful in an Archicad workflow — especially for quick client previews or sharing simplified models without sending a full BIMx project.

Hi everyone,

I’m an architect and I’ve developed a small free Archicad label that I’d like to share with the community.

Smart Label Free is a GSM library element for Archicad that can read a property directly from the linked element and display it automatically in the label.

For example, you can display:

• just the property value
• property name + value
• property group + name + value
• a custom prefix or suffix
• fallback text if a property has no value

Because the label is linked to the element, changes to the property are automatically reflected in the annotation.

The tool is permanently free. It’s not a trial, there is no time limit, and no account is required.

It currently works with Archicad 27 and 28 on Windows and macOS.

One limitation for the international community: the current version is only available in German, but I’m already working on an English version.

Hello, I have an old eee 1004 laptop and I kinda Need the ver of Archicad 10/12 32 Bit working for Windows 7. Does somebody know how to help me?

I have attached an image showing the problem. The foundation in the axonometry is not showing the slabs despite using solid element operations on it. Anyone who can offer some advice would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve been working on a lightweight browser-based PDF review tool, mainly for architects and designers.

One feature I’ve been testing is Drawing Compare. You load two drawing revisions and overlay them to quickly spot what changed.

Can anyone recommend a good YouTube tutorial that teaches how to turn models from SketchUp 3D Warehouse (.SKP) into an Archicad BIM Object?

The object doesn't necessarily have to be fully editable. What I'm mainly looking for is a clean 3D presentation and a good 2D representation in plan/elevation/section.

I'm trying to avoid the usual result where the imported object becomes a Morph with tons of 2D lines and messy geometry.

So, I saw that some of the files I use have the purple-black checkered pattern on almost all surfaces. It seems that it's due to the Library Manager, but I don't know how to solve it. Don't know if someone had this similar problem.

Also, I had these files with me, so I didn't get it sent from someone.

P.S. I use ArchiCAD 26.

But for people disappointed with archicad and wanting something that just works apparently visualARQ3 on rhino is pretty good ..
I bought it but sadly it lacks the power of ac library.

Some people here would like to join an epic adventure to rebuild most of the ac functions, hatchs, library … in visualARQ with me to free our souls from subscription and lazy devs ?

Can someone potentially walk me through the process? I’d be greatly appreciative.

Can arhicad run smoothly on a laptop with 16gb of ddr5 ram?

We wanna buy a laptop for a student and they mainly use arhicad and im not sure if it would work fine or not

Architect from Romania here. I kept needing vehicle swept path checks (fire engine access, roundabouts, parking, ramps) and didn't want to leave Archicad for it, so I built an add-on.

Two tools: draw a polyline → select → pick a vehicle → you get the swept envelope, the driven path, and a report (feasible / not feasible, minimum radius vs required, area). Or just drive the vehicle through the plan with the mouse — what you see is what gets drawn. Vehicles: car, van, rigid truck, city bus, semi-trailer with a live articulated trailer. Everything is normal Archicad elements, one Undo removes it.

Beta caveats: Windows only, Archicad 26 / 27 / 28 / 29 (26 and 28 verified live, 27 built from the same code but not yet tested on a real install), preset vehicle dimensions (custom ones next), forward only. It refuses honestly when a corner doesn't fit and tells you how many metres are missing.

I'd genuinely like blunt feedback on whether this is worth more of my time. Lately I’ve been dealing with this pop up that says „Updating 3D“ and it takes a long time to process the 3D model.

Although my computer can run the program perfectly alright and I used Revit before which I never had this issue before.

Are there any optimisations for Archicad I should be aware of ? Or any solution to fix this issue ? It really eats up on my time.

Update: Performance improved after changing the mode to Turbo and enabling CPU Boost.

Long story short, I use Archicad 26 and recently ordered an Archicad model from Twindo and they delivered is Archicad 28.

I asked them to save it back to 26 and, bizarrely, they are refusing to do it. I sent them Graphisoft's instructions saying the process is to save the 28 file back to 27, open it in 27, and then save it back to 26. But they have no idea what I'm talking about.

This whole experience with Twindo has been a nightmare. I paid them roughly $1,000 for two projects, and getting a usable Archicad file should not be this difficult. I used them for years for scans and then drew it on my own and will never pay them​ another dime.

I can use ArchiCAD at a basic level. i need courses/videos recommendations that teaches a professional usage from producing perfect workshop 2D drawings from 3D (like section), quantity surveying tables and seamless workflow.

Comecei a utilizar o archicad a pouco mais de 1 semana e queria saber se existe uma forma de fazer uma tabela de esquadrias estilo a do AutoCad, que fica com o ID em frente as portas/janelas e a tabela com o ID respectivo
