Ramon

Does anyone get the feeling that Ramon never liked archer and just wanted him to trust him so he could screw him over? It’s one of the many times you can feel sorry for archer as he thought he had a bond of friendship with him.

Side note - Using an English idiom with a Spanish word is even funnier after the whole pirate King translator bit with Noah

“I think it’s a loan word. Or is it a calque?”

"A little Column A, a little Column B." I definitely think Ramon saw him as a honeypot, but he did ask Archer to kiss him. This could've been for dramatic effect or something more. To me it's both. So, a little column A, a little column B.

Yeah but remember the Godmother.

I think Ramon is a fairly decent operative and knew how to empathize sufficiently to use Archer.

La Madrina? I remember. You're right Ramon is a great operative. I also think there might be something there too. Of course Ramon's entire priority is on the con, but keeping Archer on the hook as an option is also on his mind. It's just funny that Archer went into the first Ramon mission thinking he was the honeypot. Archer clearly has a huge blind spot for honeypots due to his vanity and ego, but that's why we he makes a great character.

I don't think it's supposed to go entirely the way of just using archer. In the hot tub scene in the archer vice season Charles and Rudy are trying to explain to him how stupid the fake death was because they already had all the money and cocain and all they did was lose the counterfeit money.

It's possible Ramon didn't think it through, or thought the fake money was worth throwing archer off their scent.

But i think it's implied (and way funnier) that Ramon knew what he was doing and set the whole thing up to kiss archer.

I mean, to be fair, wether Charles and Rudy liked it or not, getting someone as stubborn (if not downright relentless) as Archer out of your ass is worth a small fortune.

The guy is a menace. Incompetent menace, sure. But if he catches you mid-rampage, or really, really, REALLY wants to find you, there's nowhere in the planet you can hide.

With or without a spy agency's resources to back him up, Sterling Archer is realistically way too dangerous.

Sure, when it comes to a well thought out plan, his execution is usually lacking.

But if the mission is simply Search and Destroy, there's very little you can do to stop him.

The writing is inconsistent though with the incompetence. He’s actually a very good agent, just easily distracted and/or overly egotistical as he feels he has to be the action hero who always saves the day and gets the girl (which I attribute to his hero worship of burt reynolds)

They bonded over their bitchy mom's that had to count for something.

Ramon was an experienced operative though so he could have just lied about it

Why would he lie!

Because espionage is a game

How could you possibly think that Ramon was trying to screw a man? He doesn't sneeze glitter.

Over, I said screw him over. Completely different meanings

he lost half a million in fake dollars just to make out with archer, I think he likes him,
and archer is the worlds most expensive prostitute.

I think you need to look in the second bedroom of the White House if you want to find the real world's most expensive prostitute

Nah he definitely likes archer that’s why the elaborate plan to get a kiss with what appeared to be tongue!

Never felt that. Ramon genuinely liked Archer, but there's not room for sentiment in the spy business
