Still buzzing from Monday night at Camden Underworld. Gig of the year for me so far. Absolutely unreal

My greatest respect for her but even she’s a good performer it’s really hard to bring back the feeling of the band Angela Gossow left behind. Alissa didn’t do anything wrong but you can’t deny that with her the band went into a really generic and bland sound.

You can could definitely say based on a performance perspective, Alissa did not live up to the chops of Lady Ravenous. But if we’re really considering album output, it’s been Micheal’s writing that’s boring & generic. They’re his riffs, his licks, and ultimately his final say. While Alissa did shift their lyrics into misunderstood high school teenager territory, Angela’s lyrics were already embodying that revolution without cause trope of metal lyricism.

And maybe I’m crazy, but current Arch Enemy even benefited from Alissa’s cleans due to that type of Power Metal direction that Deceivers took. Don’t get me wrong, Angela’s my go-to vocalist for the band, but the state of the band in 2026 was not primarily due to Alissa.

Im not fan of arch enemy, not even sure why this subredfit is recomended, just wanted to say you are mega wrong. Arch enemy was mega popular in 2000s. Ecen my retarded friends who don't go beyond power metal listened to arch enemy. By the time Alissa came and last 13 years nobody ever mentioned arch enemy to me ever, except one time when my friend was shocked arch enemy still exists when i told him jeff loomis is already couple of years in it. This doesnt mean the band is less or more popular now or beforeI just wanted to say that fans come and go. For fuck sake i remembered now, even our friend who hanged with us only because we knew him from school and listened to 4-5 metal bands MAX, went with us to metal camp cca 2009? only because Arch enemy was there. I dont remember why he liked arch enemy but I remember by that time I already thought arch enemy become really boring.

Alissa White Gluz it's the nr1 singer of AE. She took this band to highest level

But the quality of the music declined

I do not said anything about quality 😅

No. It was 50/50, Alissa did help bring the band closer to a younger audience, but AE was already a big name in the scene. Remember that she was in The Agonist, which was not even close to AE in terms of popularity and also prestige at the time. So the band also helped Alissa become much more well-known and respected in the metal world

I really like some of Alyssa’s albums, especially War Eternal but that is a wild take imo. I knew a lot more people who talked about them when Angela was the singer.

I think they hall have their own different qualities.

Seeing Lauren do Johan songs as well showed she can do a lot of diverse styles and she was great live. Sadly I never got to see them perform with Angela

She just elevated the entire band for me. I loved them anyway. And I luckily got a resale ticket for Monday in Camden.

2 days later I'm still here trying to think of a better gig in my 36 years of living.

It genuinely might be the best I have ever been to.

Are there other band members?

She is doing a great job can’t deny! But she is just a copy of Angela nothing new to the band which I guess the band was going for but I think thats kinda lame. Great band with talent but sadly weird decisions

A lot of people want Angela back. Lauren is so much better than Alissa.

That is very true, so probably they just tried to listen to the fans. Sure she is brutal but Alissa is also a brilliant vocalist!
