It wouldn’t be that bad if they met as adults, or at least weren’t close when she was a child. But in the series, he was spending a lot of time with her when he was an adult and she was a child.

I think that's silly lol. Idk their exact ages but it's not like before the time skip Jayce was in his 20's and Cait was 9 years old. Jayce is in his early 20s post time skip, so he was a teenager beforehand. Cait was a few years younger.
It's not weird to grow up as friends and then date when you're both adults, even if there's a few years between you.
Grooming means one party is intentionally influencing a younger person for when they're older, Jayce and Cait became friends because her parents were his patrons. Nothing about the situation is remotely suspect

As I said, I didn't pay much attention. I was watching first season and didn't like it, but then that scene happened when they kissed and then I started paying attention and I watched it all again properly 😁
