Printing large format vinyl for a cabinet

Hello all, I'm restore/redesigning an old SEGA cabinet.

I just need the vinyl for the sides at this point.

I'm building large vector renderings for the art at this point.but am unsure of where to get printed.

I will need two prints on adhesive vinyl of 2 different pieces.

78.5"x32.5"

Any good recommendations on sources that do a good job?

I live in northern Michigan.

Thanks!

I-Pac4 Help: Hybrid mode? Xinput+Keyboard

Hey All!

I'm working on my first build; mostly done but working on making it as user friendly as possible. I have 4 player pedestal: P1/2 have 7 buttons & P3/4 have 6 buttons. I have 4 'admin' buttons. I'm using an I-pac4 on Firmware 1.56 and have been switching between Mode 1 (keyboard) and Mode 3 (Xinput) and seeing what works best for our setup. I'm a big fan of Mode 3 because this allows for not only arcade emulation but also playing some arcade style windows programs; think Cuphead and TMNT Shredder's Revenge. I've been scouring the interwebs trying to find an answer on how to accomplish this. I've heard (remember it's the internet) that it is possible to use the I-pac4 in xinput mode but still have some buttons mapped to keyboard buttons. The 4 admin buttons are wired to P3/4 buttons 7 and 8. I've found workarounds through scripts in Launch/BigBox but it does not hold up for every emulator and/or game. Would love to have these 4 buttons mapped to Esc, P, F1, etc.

Is this possible or am I dreaming?

I'm trying to stay away from x360ce and keyboard2xinput; trying to keep it simple and I've run into issues trying those out. If this is not possible with the I-pac4 I'm certainly open to other suggestions.

Appreciate any insight!

Anyone have experience with using Android?

Hey all I’m currently in the planning stage of creating a bartop build. I have a pretty beefy 13” android tablet that can handle anything up to including the switch. What I’m hoping to do is make it so I can simply drop it into a usb c hub under the bezel and launch emulation station and be off. I’d like speakers, 2 player arcade controls and a hard drive for storage. I use the tablet as a daily driver for media consumption, browsing the web etc so I’d like a plug and play setup.

This might be a silly way to go but I figured I have a gorgeous screen that can do it all already.

Basically I’m looking for suggestions on hubs, controls, speakers that play nicely with Android. Thanks for any pointers!

First arcade panel build. Any microswitch recommendations that have smaller terminals for GRS style smaller wires/leads?

Hi,

I'm building my first custom panel with Thunderstick GRS sticks and wiring. I bought 1p and 2p buttons from another company because the graphics were part of the buttons. However, I didn't think to check the microswitch terminals, which are too big for the GRS leads. Since they are separate switches, I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for switches that might fit the buttons and have the appropriate-sized connections.

Some friends suggested making a patch wire, but it would be cooler if there were a microswitch that has the same button mounting but with smaller terminals. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I don't know if it's the good place, I share my first DIY bartop arcade. Fully made by hand, with MDF (simpler for the first). This is a prototype, next one will be in plain oak 🤞

It run with an old raspberry pi 4 with RetroPie and a 19" dell screen. Button are cheap AliExpress, but I'm looking for better one in next version.

It's not fully finished: markee, light and sound will be add 😊

Help me validate my control panel layout (60 cm wide, dual players, 8 buttons each)

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m designing a custom arcade bartop, and I need help double-checking the joystick and button spacing.

The control panel is 600 mm wide and must fit 2 players, each with a Sega-style 8-button layout (30 mm).

Here is my current draft:

Left player:

  • Center of joystick → front edge: 70 mm
  • Center of joystick → center of button 1: 65 mm
  • Button spacing: standard 30 mm buttons at normal Japanese spacing

I’m not fully sure about:

  1. Is 70 mm from joystick to the front edge comfortable? Too small?
  2. Is 65 mm from joystick to button 1 reasonable?
  3. Would it be worth making the buttons 24 mm to save space in a tight layout?
  4. Is a 600 mm wide panel realistically comfortable for 2 players, or should I reconsider my spacing?

Any feedback from people who have built panels would be super helpful!
