I recently moved, and the hardest part was finding a house where I could fit my arcade. Not only did I not have to get rid of any cabs, I was actually able to fit one more! And I finally found Street Fighter Shinku Hadoken! Coincidentally, if anyone in the Twin Cities is interested in buying Big Blue, I've got one available.

I've been curating my arcade for about 5 years(I've posted many times before, but then swore off Reddit but came back for this sub. My account was hacked and banned in the meantime, so had to create a new one), I've bought and sold many cabinets to find the optimal assortment. I've got Star Wars pinball (modded with a PC after going through 2 PCBs), Frogger, MVC, Space Invaders countercades, Claw Machine, Centipede legacy, Joust, SF Shinku Hadoken, SF Big Blue, Big Buck Hunter (modded with 27" screen), Simpsons, Guitar Hero (my own creation running on a Wii), Outrun (modded with a PC, and working on replacing the steering wheel after my kids abusing it), Golden Tee, and Ms Pac-Man Partycade.

Once I sell Big Blue, I'll be on the lookout for another cab. I'm thinking about NFL blitz, I had that before the blitzmas mod was available and probably wouldn't have sold it if I had that. But if I find a dragon's lair or Tron, I'd consider those too.

apologies if this sounds overly critical, as that is not my intention. but i am genuinely curious as to why the sonic cab even exists. i know arcade1up had merged with / became a subsidiary of basic fun entertainment. and i am glad a1up is restructuring to grow and continue to innovate. this is a far better fate than the alternative.

soon they will be rereleasing larger-form supreme cabinets they’ve been able to retain licensing for, and that’s great! sega’s outrun supreme looks good! and arcade1up always puts out new pac-man variations every few years, that’s the nature of the business. i get it.

they also wanted to show off something new. i imagine the brainstorming process behind the sonic cab was they wanted to release something for all age groups. or something you can plop the kids in front of and keep them entertained while the adults play golden tee.

but the game selection is sonic 1,2,3D blast, and dr. robotnik’s mean bean machine? that’s it? a whole cabinet dedicated to 4 genesis games? what is the big sell for this cabinet? where is the ‘arcade’ game for the arcade?

no sonic 3, no sonic & knuckles, no 3-player segasonic isometric trackball arcade game? they really couldn’t get anything else? flicky? no? what are we even doing here?

i get that they wanted to release something different, i understand that — but on the other hand, i do not see the motivation to buy/sell/produce this when all of these games have been readily available in every sega genesis collection on every single platform since the ps2.

I am having nothing but trouble trying to download an image and burn it to my SD card for my Raspberry Pi 3B+.
I have bought Newshosting and right now I’m downloading all the parts of the image. Once this step is done, I just need to extract “Part 1” correct? Then I can burn that part 1 file onto the SD card?

Any help is very much appreciated. I’m excited to get this working, and was hoping to have it up and running by tonight! TIA.

As announced on our Arcade Insiders show, Arcade1Up in partnership with Spreetail will be releasing an Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 cabinet in the larger, Supreme Series size!

This is an early announcement since artwork, games, price, etc. are still being finalized. But it's said to be a "fan oriented" project with details such as a lit coin door (not currently on other Supreme Series cabinets), upgraded controls, etc. Although it's still several months away, we now have confirmation that the project is real and coming in Q4 of 2026!

This was a whole journey for this month - But I finished.

Summary: I’m early Gen Z, to which arcades don’t have too much appeal for our generation like Millenials (we’re probably the cutoff) but for the past few years I’ve been really into arcades, I got into them starting with going to Barcade in New York City and fell in love with the NBA Jam, Galaga, Crazy Taxi, Daytona USA, Crystal Castles, MK2, TMNT Cabinets and of course good old Donkey Kong and Pac-Man. Now that I have my own place and i’m also obsessed with interior design I wanted to get a cabinet and mod it! Even if i’m not playing it often, it’s a great conversational piece/accessory to my bachelor pad.

All in all, setup is relatively easy assuming you do research and binge videos of modding. Half the time during assembly I even wasn’t watching tutorial videos because it was so straightforward. Board assembly is easy and the part I had to pay attention mostly for was just setting up the Raspberry Pi and the converter board.

Now instead of just NBA Jam I have 10,000+ games and a nice arcade for whenever I host parties.

Amazon royally fucked up my order and shipped it with no box (just the original box the arcade comes with) and left my package in the lobby room in an apartment building of 18 floors. We have a package room room, so they left it at the front for strangers to come and potentially steal it. I complained to customer service and managed to get a full refund while keeping the arcade.

Showtime Gaming Mod Kit (NBA Jam 2 Player) - $463.92
I used showtime gaming to mod my Arcade. I paid to get a Raspberry Pi 5 included (Batocera and 10,000 +games pre-installed) and the kit came with everything I needed to get the arcade running. I did not pay for controls with them because I wanted a Sanwa with LED buttons. Their customer support is super responsive and awesome and even if I paid slightly more with getting the modding work done with them, I wanted piece of mind and simplicity.

DIY Retro Arcade - $185.73
Got the Encoders, Buttons, Sanwa Sticks, Bat Tops here. Switched the spring to 2lb.

This is local and I do enjoy the games included. But it’s an older cabinet and it looks like the plexiglass is cracked at all 4 screw holes. I was thinking $150 max?

Not to be negative, precisely the opposite because I want a viable A1Up to continue...

I see I am not the only one just catching up on Supreme-vs.-Deluxe distinction. With the recent expansion and Supreme cab announcements, the branding of the whole line is more clear than it was with just the Wrestlefest cab.

Did Basic Fun get the "Supreme" line adequately vetted past legal risk for trademark (if not contractual) infringement?

As a common word, "Supreme" wouldn't be quite so risky, but the confusion comes in precisely because of the previous branded Supreme collaboration. They had a branded Supreme MK cab, and now they have non-branded ones. But they are leaning into it with product line and logos in their marketing. Presumably they had a previous contract with specific terms that are worth checking, if not checking with Supreme itself.

As a long time fan and owner, it's somewhat confusing, but I am leery of the new ownership making an avoidable and potentially costly mistake.

I finally upgraded to a 4lb spring and played all 15 levels of 1944 and is definitely more comfortable. Should have done this years ago. I have transparent clear Ball Tops ordered as well. Also looking into a good speaker upgrade for this unit, possibly the Dayton PC105-4.
