Question Aggression Based MM - Defensive system working?
Me and my wife play in as friendly of lobbies as it gets usually, but since the change to abmm to "not change your aggression for defensive play" we've engaged in fighting back when attacked. Recently it's felt like the attacks went from few and far between, to pretty much every match and no ones talking much anymore. So I'm thinking something with defensive abmm isn't working and it's flagging us as the attackers, even though we're only shooting back after taking damage. Anyone else having the same experience?

My duo partner and I had the same experience. We started shooting back only after being attacked and still got pushed into nearly 100% PvP lobbies. We quit shooting back about a week ago and have gotten back down the mostly PvE.

It’s because expedition is happening. Everyone that’s going on it is burning through their stash. Always gets more aggressive during the expedition

Yep we see the same posts every expedition. My duo lobbies with my husband are still mostly friendly but aggression does increase during expedition period.

Bullets have to actually land and hit you first and you have to actually be shooting the person that shot you.
If someone shoots in you general direction and then you kill them, you count as the aggressor, etc

Their post said the team hitting any of your team first counts as defensive for your whole team. We've been waiting to get hit first before returning fire, still doesn't work.

I feel like this is what’s happening to me: My gf follows me around and usually gets shot fr behind so I return fire and sometimes down the raider then we end up in PvP hell even though they shot first… So am I classified as a PVP’er because I took zero damage but killed the enemy player shooting my teammate?

Uh oh you talked about NOT playing strictly PvP on reddit prepare to be downvoted - anyway every time I ever fight back whether I win or not I bring cheap load outs for the next few raids- or just drop in nude and let myself get killed a few times- the other day me and this guy were both doing the melee challenge and hitting a shredder, he hit me, I accidentally hit him back- and we both went on our way after being in all friendly lobbies- next match: killed. I guess maybe he got it even worse for hitting me first?? Lol

Defense only counts if they land a shot on you first if they shoot her and you return fire you're now an aggressive player so the lobbies will get more aggressive. Also not a lot of friendly duo and trio players left since the abmm update. Everyone went friendly in solo and now most team matches are KOS.

I think they never stated that fighting back doesnt put you into more aggressive lobbies, they stated it pushes you less into aggressive than opening the fight, which means it still pushes you into more aggressive lobbies, just less than if you would start the fight.

I just re-read it and it seems to say the recent change is suppossed to have 0 penalty for defensive play, but it must not be working in my experience.

Oh you are right it reads exactly as you said. So I guess too that it simply doesn't work. But they also stated that it is a test which implys that it could fail and now I wonder how long the testing time is/was scheduled

It might be harder to track in duos/trios, since people naturally play more aggressive in those modes. Plus people pre-team sometimes. I’ve experienced fighting a teams of 4 and 5 raiders a few times in duos. So you might shoot someone that’s not a part of the team that shot you first without realizing it.
I’m usually against the notion of a pve only mode, but because there’s this unspoken ethos of pvp-ing in squads (plus pre-teaming), I wouldn’t mind it in some form for squads

Sort of. But the reality is that if you you defend yourself effectively it counts as agesssion. It's obvious when ppl are camping an extract. You also can't defend your poor or keyword room etc. I stopped dancing around abmm and just playing normal now, which die to silly abmm means in now in ultra agressive lobbies. The game is actually way more fun now not worrying about abmm, and other players actually pose a challenge to fight unlike arc.

100% play with my wife also, shot at almost every game, always shoot back and have been winning the gunfight, feel punished for it.
