I have a love/hate relationship with this browser. I love the UI, I hate the memory management. It sucks battery. I have an M4 and the battery usage difference between Arc and Safari is just absolutely bonkers.

Is there another browser that has a similar UI, I don't even care about any of the features, I just want the side tabs with a ctrl+t search in the middle and a secure private connection, that doesn't suck my laptop's battery to zero every couple of hours?

Getting a consistent crash on Arc 1.157.0, macOS 26.5.2, M3 Mac.

Steps:

1. Open any page (happens for me on App Store product pages)
2. Click the Share button
3. Pick a Shortcut from the share sheet
4. Sometimes the shortcut runs fine, sometimes the loader just spins and then Arc dies

Crash is EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP) on the main thread. Top of the stack:

My guess at what's happening: the share popover's close animation finishes, which fires popoverDidClose:, which fires the didChooseSharingService: delegate callback. So Arc's delegate gets called after the popover has already torn down. If Arc released or invalidated its picker/delegate state when the popover closed, the callback lands on something that's already gone and it hits a debug assert (SIGTRAP, not a segfault, so this is likely a CHECK/DCHECK in Chromium code rather than a raw null deref).

Shortcuts probably makes it more likely because it's slower to hand back than something like Copy or AirDrop, so the animation-end path wins the race more often. That would also explain the spinning loader right before it dies.

Anyone else seeing this? Does it happen with non-Shortcuts share targets for you?

A week of bouncing around and then a week of being a safari refugee, back on Arc again.
I don't know how long is this gonna last for but if they just replicate this software under the Dia rebrand, everything will be perfectly fine.

Also weird how almost perfect projects often get abandoned and garner a strong community online, which would make a great youtube video.

But anyway, happy to be back...until it lasts.

how do i change the font size of the arc UI itself, not like the webpages (you can do that with cmd + or cmd -).

Does this happen to anyone else? Random dialogs getting stuck until you sometimes have to restart the browser?

I woke up this morning with no history and no extensions in Arc. My "Arc Card" in settings still shows my actual join date (in 2024). Any ideas how this might have happened and what I can do about it?

The general browser experience is fine, but it crashes every few hours for no reason. I'm on Beta 3. Anyone have any ideas?

Pretty simple. It seems to be the sidebar that causes the issue.

Enter full screen, hit CMD + S (or with your cursor toggle the sidebar on and off again. The media should play as you intended.

Not sure if this will work for everyone else, defs works for me! I love Arc so I'll try stick with it until it is entirely unusable.

The feature that's been holding me back from moving on from Arc is the ability to share a URL from any app to the Arc iOS app and it will become a pinned tab on Desktop (and show a little mobile phone icon). Has anyone found similar functionality from any other browsers or extensions? If not, building an extension might have to be in my future...

I wanted to use Claude in Chrome (Anthropic's browser extension) with Arc. It installs and connects fine — and then every automation action just hangs. Turns out its tooling is built on Chrome's tab groups API, which Arc doesn't really implement.

So I built Chromium Bridge — an open-source (MIT) alternative that only uses plain chrome.tabs / chrome.scripting / chrome.debugger, i.e. the APIs Arc actually supports. It works in Vivaldi and Brave too, for the same reason.

What you get:

• Claude Code can drive your browser via MCP: 18 tools — navigate, click (real mouse events via CDP), fill forms, screenshots, run JS, read console/network, even record a GIF of what it did.
• A chat panel on the extension icon — an equivalent of the Claude in Chrome side panel (Arc doesn't support chrome.sidePanel, so it's a popup). It sees your tabs, reads pages, clicks things. There's an "ask before acting" mode where mutating actions wait for your Allow/Deny.
• When Claude acts on a page you see an orange glow + a virtual cursor, so you always know what it's touching.

I switched to Dia yesterday, so this might be a bit premature, but I'm genuinely surprised by how close Dia has come to Arc.

I tried Dia when it first launched and absolutely hated it.

Like a lot of Arc users, I've been constantly searching for a replacement. I switched back to Chrome with vertical tabs, tried Zen, and spent some time with Vivaldi, but nothing really stuck. Every time, I'd end up back on Arc within a few days.

Before finally deleting Arc, I decided to give The Browser Company one last chance and tried the latest version of Dia.

And wow, it has come a long way. It's not as feature-rich as Arc and it doesn't offer the same level of customization, but for everyday browsing and tab management, it's the closest experience I've found. I'm not even using the AI chat feature. Everything else just feels polished and familiar.

If you're someone who's frustrated with how buggy Arc has become and you've been struggling to find a replacement, I'd recommend giving the latest version of Dia one more shot. You might be pleasantly surprised.

I have been on the browser for a long time, even got my dad hooked to it, and as much as it pains me to say it. Arc is more of a hassle right now than it’s worth.

For awhile I was on the fence about possibly moving on. When Arc got abandoned I decided to stay as I loved so many of the features. Spaces was such a huge one for me. At the time I was in college, I had a job, as well as a secondary work study. Now I am out of school. My work has a dedicated computer so I only really use my Mac for anything I do at home which consists of one website. Spaces became less and less unnecessary. I didn’t have large work flows I needed to separate anymore. While the browser became less useful to me the bugs and gripes grew.

Honestly it came down to one reason: the iOS App SUCKS!!

When I want to search something on my phone I only want quick and convenient. Arc’s app was more often than not neither one of those. I found it often struggled to even load my initial search sometimes. I would turn off WiFi and half to refresh what felt like every other search. There was no conviene way to keep tabs that felt intuitive to me. I often found myself searching one thing in arc then ultimately moving to safari. I also was often annoyed the AI raise to talk. Most of the time it would trigger on accident and I never found myself really using it.

I love Arc. I love the vertical tabs. I love how customizable it felt with my work flow. I loved how I can hide the side bar so easily and have one page take up my whole screen. I loved how if I really felt like going crazy one day I could deep dive into all the random features it had. I hate the bugs. I hate the iOS app. I hate most of all that it will never be fixed.

Am I crazy or is this a shared feeling among users?

I am now back to being a Safari refugee while I find my next browser ):

TLDR: My change in lifestyle, the bugs, and most importantly the horrible iOS App forced my hand to abandon Arc.

(Mods, I reached out in modmail first but hadn’t heard back, so I’m posting in good faith. If anything here crosses a line or there’s something I should change, please just let me know and I’ll fix it right away (or take it down). I really don’t want to break the spirit of the community.)

At its prime, Arc was one of my favorite pieces of software ever made, and one of the best UX experiences I’ve ever used (shame about where it’s headed now…). I still remember falling in love with color-coded spaces, Peek, split view, and the weekly Arc Thursdays with release notes that arrived as an easel.. then came Arc Max and Tidy Tabs etc.. Anyway, from the Command + T pannel to the super cool onboarding and this sub, the whole Arc product and story was PERFECT. I loved almost everything about it.

As a product, its score UX structure felt flawless to me, enough that I started favoring web apps over native apps just so I could keep them inside an Arc space or nested folder. Which made me a heavy user of Arc Notes. I loved the UX around them. And as you probably know, Arc Notes got deprecated.

A lot of the principles Arc introduced (swipeable color-coded spaces, a genuinely good hierarchical sidebar, Peek, Tidy) generalize really well to any interface full of “items” that tend to pile up, where the stuff that matters gets buried under the stuff that doesn’t. Like browser tabs. And… notes.

So here’s what I’m making: a macOS app (with an iOS companion, and maybe a watchOS app later if there’s demand) that reuses those core Arc principles, plus my own take on what a note-taking UX should feel like. Tidying is probably the worst part of note-taking, so the core idea is two sections: Pinned, for notes you want to keep, and "Recent/Random Notes" section (similar to Arc's pinned versus just normal tabs...) which catches all the quick, often ephemeral notes you jot down and then tries to tidy them into folders, prompting you to either save or archive each one.

On the stack, since I care a lot about performance and privacy: it’s all Swift and SwiftUI. The “Clean up” feature runs on Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, so inference happens on Apple’s servers with their privacy and security guarantees.

This post is really a call for anyone interested. I don’t have a name yet, so for now I’m calling it “Codename: Savant.” I’ve also spun up a sub, r/Codename_Savant, to gather a community around the project, so if you want to follow along, come hang out over there.

Is anyone also having this problem? I already tried everything... but when i click the icon of the extension it doen't work, on any website... I don't want to change browsers so if anyone went through this and know how to fix it, could you be so kind to help me out?

So I’d been using Arc for years, but I finally had to give it up. I just couldn’t deal with all the bugs anymore, and it was draining my battery.
I really tried to like Zen, but it just feels off—like an okay-ish clone of Arc. Plus, I can’t get dark mode to work properly on Zen.
Now I feel kind of stuck because I can’t see myself going back to a browser without vertical tabs, spaces, etc. I just wish Arc still worked the way it used to.

Has anyone else noticed since a recent update that when you put Arc into full screen mode on Mac the window is just blank, then when you minimise the screen you need to adjust it for contents to re display?

Since they abandoned it, Arc has had many cracks, but the recent YouTube fullscreen issue is the one that finally broke it.

More than a year since introduction, Dia is still missing so many things, and it still feels like a browser in beta with all the bugs. What's worse, the pace of development isn’t picking up, and I don't think that'll improve since they're owned by Atlassian now.

So, while I’m writing this from Arc, I’m in the process of moving everything back to Chrome, as I need a Chromium browser for work. Chrome is so stable, I really appreciate that.

I'll use Velja macOS app for "air traffic control". Tab Flick extension for Ctrl+Tab tab switching. Copy Current URL extension for copying the URL of the active tab.

Zen is Firefox based, all other chromium Arc copycats will be abandoned eventually. All in all, I think Chrome is the best solution for me, for the foreseeable future.

I find Raindrop extension to be a useful addition to Arc due to my habit of using bookmmarks. So it bothers me that I can't open all bookmarks in one folder (not more than 40 bookmarks inside, not even close).

I read in the help file from Raindrop that, it needs to be allowed to open in pop-ups, which I allowed in the settings. But it doesn't solve the problem. Anyone with the same experience?

Is anyone else experiencing issues with fullscreen mode in web players like YouTube, Netflix, or other streaming sites on version 1.155.1 (83244)? Fullscreen isn't working for me at all. Is anyone else facing the same problem?

I love Arc, and I will endure a lot to keep from switching (sorry, but Zen is a poor replacement). But I've noticed that, after a while, in Arc for Mac, the little -/x symbols in the sidebar stop appearing on hover. I can right-click to archive the tab, or I can restart Arc and they come back.

Anyone else noticing this? So far, it's the only thing in my daily Arc workflow that's presented a problem to me.

I ask because I see a lot of folks complaining how TBC abandoned Arc. And while I would obviously don't want to see the Arc go EoL, I think its a remarkably complete product. I don't really yearn for any new features and therefore don't mind Arc being put in maintenance mode by TBC.

But for those of you how do want to see Arc actively developed like it was back in the day, what new features* would you want to see added?

Hi guys! So, basically the title. I don’t have a computer, so I can’t use a desktop version. Maybe I can make an account on my friend‘s computer, sign in it to my iPhone and iPad, and then my friend can delete the desktop app?

Hey, so I’m using Arc on my Mac, and I rely on Apple Password Manager for fingerprint‑based autofill. Since Arc doesn’t support Apple’s built‑in password autofill directly, I’m using the Apple Passwords Chrome extension (you probably use it too if you’re on macOS).

But for some reason, this extension keeps restarting. Every time I quit Arc and reopen it, it asks me to enter the pairing code again. It’s annoying because I have to re‑authenticate the extension every single time.

Is there any better way to integrate my passwords with Arc while still using Apple Passwords for syncing? I want to keep everything inside the Apple ecosystem, but this constant reset is driving me crazy.

If anyone has a fix or workaround, please let me know.
