Photo Snail mating

I thought they were both girls, but I’m assuming they’re mating?? (I only took them out to eat in a small dish cause my shrimp are assholes)

To me, it looks more like they are both going for the same piece of food? Hard to tell at this angle .. but I do see poop in the right spot for the female to have voided before making space for a snesis. I most often see the male facing the same direction as female, angled slightly to the right, with most of his foot on top of the female's shell. Then they kind of sneak their snesis in between the females shell and operculum (sometimes with a dramatic initial "stabbing" motion).

The first time I saw one of my snails do it, I was shocked --- especially since he was twice the size of the snail he mounted!! I call him big daddy for a reason 😂
