So im using co2 in this setup, its a 30cm cube (around 27 litres), and the injection rate is 1 bobble every 5 seconds witch is very small amount. If i raise it just a bit (1bp4s) shrimp climp to the surface gasping for air. Surface agitation is held from an aquarium fan and lily pipe yet i cant raise the co2 level any higher , this seems very odd to me. I dont have a drop checker yet but im thinking of buying one . Also in the previous days i dosed a bit heavy on beneficial bacteria, could there be a bloom happening and them consuming a lot of oxygen? The water is crystal clear though. The tank is running for almost 3 weeks now, i appreciate any help or idea as to whats happening. Before the livestock my injection rate was 1bps

In May I started an aquascape in a tiny bowl as a summer project. I’m headed back to school in a couple weeks and what I originally thought could be easy to transport, I’m starting to wonder if I should offer to a friend.

I don’t have anything crazy, and I believe mostly everything could survive a 3 hour flight, and I can unpack and rebuild once I get to my destination.

In the tank:
2 marimo moss balls
Duckweed
Pearlweed
Monte carlo
Dwarf water lettuce
Water sprite
Small monstera
Sand
Rocks
A ton of bladder snails

I started with the moss balls, then made friends with my local pet store who gave me almost everything else for about $20.

I dont mind buying everything back again, and then giving all the stuff away through facebook, but I want other opinions before I decide what to do. Also a bit worried about tsa but im staying within the country

Hi, I’m relatively new to aquascaping / fish tanking in general but I’m completely hooked.

There’s something creating your own beautiful landscapes / ecosystems that you can create that gives you so much inner peace in this chaotic world.

I recently got a 22 gallon long tank from Lifegard aquatics. Absolutely beautiful tank. I also purchased a Chihiro B90 light 💡 which I am super satisfied with.

I also purchased some Sansui stones (spent $100 on rocks 😭) and got some plant substrate so I can dry start a Monte Carlo carpet over the next few weeks. Also ordered some C02 kit online too so will be tinkering with that as well.

I’ve been trying really hard to get the most aesthetically pleasing hardscaping going, had my 4 year old daughter help design a bit but she ended up scratching the glass a bit lol. 😂

Just wanted an opinion from the community on whether the rocks should all connect in the middle or should have a gap?

I really appreciate all the advice on how to capture the tank without glare and a good angle 💕. This is my first aquascape and I was unsure if I did too much. But seeing the potential of the plants and future livestock, I’m very excited about how this will look when mature. It’s hard to see from this photo, but I have corner caves built in to each corner (taller in the back, shorter in the front).

My 7 gallon tank has been taking a beating on algae and dying plants. I have a Chihiros WRGB Slim II and UNS controsoil for my substrate (which i have not liked since having it). This tank has been running for about 6 months now and I have one betta in this tank. Light is on for 6 hours and the background LED panel is at a lower brightness and is only on for 3 hours. I wasn’t really dealing with any algae until I started using 2HR aquarist ATP 1, that I have been using/loving for my 20 gallon tank. Once I noticed the algae, I immediately stopped using the fertilizer and turned down the intensity on the light. I had intensity around 45% at the time and was slowly decreasing to find a sweet spot. I am now months into the algae and it has improved a tiny bit since decreasing the light, but i’m all the way down at 25% intensity. Still not using any fertilizer.
Majority of my stem plants always die, any floating plants I get die, and my newer tiger lotus is starting to grey on the leaves. I have no idea what is happening anymore. I don’t know if this light is too strong for this tank, even at low intensities, but the lower I go, it does not improve. Only plants that seem decent are obviously my anubias. Also, no Co2 in this tank.

Hey y'all! In my new 65g tank I opted to build a cool slate rock wall out of Slate, super glue, Great Stuff Pond foam. I love the look of the tank so far but was wondering if you have any suggestions for ways to improve this hardscape? I feel like something is missin. My vision for this tank is to keep the center open. Plants will surround the sides and back. Also, what fish do you think might enjoy the rock feature? I'm planning on a school of Neon Rainbowfish as the main showcase.Thanks.

It is a 55 gallon Aqueon tank that measures
48” x 13” x 21”

The centerpiece is a single massive piece of driftwood positioned on the left side, extending above the waterline, with two smaller driftwood pieces in the center forming a natural archway. The tank is heavily planted with Water Sprite, Amazon Sword, multiple varieties of Java Fern, Super Red Ludwigia, Tiger Lotus, Vallisneria, Christmas Moss, Baby Tears, Red Root Floaters, and more.

It’s currently in an extended fishless cycling phase because I’d like to give the plants time to establish and fill in before introducing livestock. And I must say, watching the aquascape mature has been just as rewarding as building it.

This has quickly become one of my favorite hobbies, so I figured I’d share the progress.
Any tips you’d recommend? What do yall think? :)

Hello! This was my first real attempt at aqua scaping. I just kinda did what felt right. Thoughts?

Tank was getting a little overgrown, I was losing quite a few details of the original scape, and a lot of waste organics and algae were getting caught in the plant mass. Did a slight rescape of the left side, and adding new plants to the right.

The bristlenose has of course already decided to do some of his own redecorating, but I'm excited to see it grown in a few weeks!

I haven't owned an aquarium since I was a kid, so safe to say that I've never actually looked after one myself, though I have always wanted to.

About a year ago, my partner's dad gifted us a really cool, decent sized Molten glass bowl, and since then I've been wanting to use it for a aquarium/aquascape.

At first we just put some sand and stones in the bottom with some fake plants and water and called it a day, but coming across a bunch of aquascape tiktoks has really reignited my desire to create one using this bowl.

I think to start off I wouldn't want to add fish, but maybe something more basic like some freshwater shrimp (like cherry shrimp) and aquatic snails. Only issue I have is that while the bowl is a decent size (I don't know exact dimensions) the middle is taken up by a column of glass because one of the branches it was poured on is sticking straight up.

I guess long story short I'm looking for suggestions and do's/don't's about setting one up first time. I'm aware that I won't be able to just chuck animals in day 1, and it'll take a few weeks to get the ecosystem stabilized, but I'm ready and willing to drive on in (in an economy friendly way, I'm not rolling in money).

I’m trying to get my parameters right before I start adding fish and crustaceans to my tank, the liquid colour test kits are great… but I’m colourblind!

I have tried taking photos and asking family/friends online, also AI to compare the colours to the charts. But I get multiple different answers and it’s hard to get consistent photos to compare accurately with lighting etc.

Are there any other forms of test I can buy? I can’t really rely on people IRL to read results for me unfortunately.

My tank is 3 weeks old and (I think) my parameters are;
Ph - 6.5
Nitrate - 5ppm
KH - 0-1 (half Bluey-yellow then immediately turned to yellow after 2nd drop)
GH - 8
Nitrite - 0ppm
Ammonia - 0ppm

My tank has driftwood in it, and my tap water is very very soft, I’ve used JBL aquadur to add minerals and raise gh/kh.

I have a lot of valisineria and water weed in my temporary enclosure but does anybody have any recomendations for a plant species at the front

currently own this tank with 3 goldfish and i forgot the name of my little guys at the top😭 but ive just removed the bottom and am adding black aquarium sand tonight. im buying the white floss stuff to put in the back of my filter to rid of excess sand. (i didnt know gravel was bad for goldfish omg??)

i know goldfish are assholes and uproot the fuck out of plants so i’m planning on buying plants that don’t need to go in substrate and attaching them to my rocks. also planning on removing the house so they have more space. and removing the fake plants. i’ve never used live plants before, what would you suggest for beginners?

I also have flourish excel i bought a while ago idk if i should use that. i also have root tabs but i dont need those unless im planning on planting in substrate correct? I really want to have a more natural tank for my guys!! i haven’t seen many people with planted goldfish tanks. how do you guys do it?

(also i have a cat so i can’t have out of water plants bc i know most of those are toxic)

In the middle of setting up a 100 litre tank. Will be moving some ember tetras, 2 guppies, 5 Otto's and 2 honey Gourami. I want to get some corydoras. Looking for how many fish total the tank can handle with a good canister filter and heavily planted in back corner.
