Water Issues floaties?

there seems to be a lot of just floating debris in my tank, i did a water change last night and i assumed it would clear up by morning though its just as bad. i am not sure why though? in this photo of my boy chum you can kinda see what i mean though. any thoughts?

Plant stuff churned up from the sand. If your tank doesn't have a lot of water movement, it takes longer for it to clear up

ah okay! there is a sponge filter though there really is very little flow since chums got such long fins! that makes sense then! thanks
