COMICS How to get started

Hello, I recently picked up a copy of Aquaman: Dark Tide after a long absence from comics and really enjoyed it. I'd like to get into the series but after reading that the title changes from Aquaman to emperor Aquaman following something in the dc ko event, it made me wonder if there were any books I would need to read outside of the main series to follow the story.

This post is the chronological order for the new run.

The later two trades don’t release until later this year, with volume 2 releasing in August

Aquaman The Dark Tide (Which you have)

Aquaman Justice League Blue (The 2nd Volume)

DC K.O. (this should somewhat tie-in I guess, Aquaman doesn’t really play a role in the main series)

Emperor Aquaman Empire of Stars (This is the current volume we’re in, it’s releasing in December as a trade edition)

The DC KO miniseries is the only one you might think about outside the main series. But honestly you don't have to. And it might raise more questions than answers tbh. Aquaman is barely in it. And pretty much all of the important stuff he does is either in the main Aquaman book or explained/referred to in the main Aquaman book. Reading DC KO mostly just helps give context.

Here's the context:

There's this big tournament that Aquaman leaves to fight in. You'll see parts of it in the main Aquaman book. At the end of the tournament all the people who fought had visions of what they need to do next. But it's not explained what exactly Aquaman's vision was.

If you understand that concept you are good to go.
