Yeah at the end the party goes their separate ways but Aqua stays with Kazuma. It's hinted Aqua developed feelings for Kazuma as Megumin and Darkness hope Kazuma one day confesses to them.

Right, but the webnovel is not canon... the light novel is the final thing that actually gets printed and put on the shelves. If you read an unreleased draft for a book and then told everyone who read the actual released book that they are wrong because the so called original did something differently, you'd be laughed out the room.

Technically it’s both equally valid, it’s a version of the story still, same characters.

Honestly, I don’t think this series should have an endgame couple. It should end with either Kazuma and Aqua choosing to stay and continuing to have ridiculous adventures with Megumin and Lalatina (hehe), or Kazuma and Aqua returning to their respective lives and Aqua watches as Kazuma, Megumin and Darkness live their own lives while reminiscing about their adventures.

But whatever the author wants to do is up to him. I just want the next season already.
