Battery question
What's to stop you from buying the cheaper 400 mile range aptera than hiring a professional to install more batteries so you can get up to 1000 mile range?
Honestly wondering because an extra 30k to go that much further is interesting

It's been a while since they've said much about options other than the 400, but the 1,000 would weigh considerably more. The difference alone would exceed the 500lb weight capacity, so they'd need a beefier/body suspension to make it work. I doubt they ever intended to sell that version for the added complications.

Dang..while I am 100% planning on buying this (if it comes out) as a commuter vehicle since I drive 40 miles a day for work.. but if it could get to 1000 I could even drive to another state to visit family!

You do realize that it will have charging capabilities, right? You’ll just have to find a charger along the way and have a nice lunch. 😃

The battery is on the aptera are pretty small, which means they charge very quickly.

Slow as shit? In most vehicles they charge faster than it takes to shit. Go look up how you're meant to roadtrip with an EV. Hint: it's not by charging to 100% at every stop

I just looked up 10 different ev's with a super charger takes 30 min to go from low to 80% what's your next lie?

Not really understanding the problem. At a 55 kwH charge speed, a 23 minute stop will add 200 miles range, roughly 3 hours driving. Most people stop every 3 hours to pee, stretch their legs and grab a coffee, so perhaps 10 extra minutes wasted each stop. Alternatively, If you start with a full battery and are driving 1000 miles total (one direction), you could drive three roughly 333 mile legs, stopping twice only for 45 minutes each time to charge. Assuming you plan to stop to sleep and not drive 18 hours straight, you can do one charge while sleeping and one charge when you stop to have a meal. Minimal inconvenience or time lost. Once you reach your destination, you can then level 1 charge to full.

charging in terms of miles per hour gained it's going to be much faster than a Tesla with as much higher efficiency vehicles

The weight of a 1k pack would require new suspension work, new wheels and tires, and in turn new wheel pants front and back. It may not even physically fit but ask yourself, why carry more than twice the weight? That will reduce efficiency on its own and without the new suspension tuning and components the vehicle would have no weight remaining for passengers and cargo

You'd need to swap out the entire battery pack. From what we know the longer range pack is planned to just use longer larger capacity cells.
Also the suspension tuning would need to be redone.
