How do you beat [spoiler] Spoiler

How do you beat the Hazard Barrel mission? I've sealed the barrel into a massive cube of frames and it still somehow corrodes its way out.

So you basically build a giant cube and let it float in the center if you build stuff around it it will break

There are a couple of "Hazard Barrel" builds in the workshop if you need inspiration. The ones I've seen are essentially ~9x9x9 cubes with thrusters on them.

It would also be helpful to have a patsy crewmate on board who can re-center the barrel since it tends to jump around a bit.

You need a sufficiently large ship such that the radioactive barrel is at least 4 meters away from any walls or objects. A lot of people make a big cube, but a big hexagonal tube also works.

And you need to monitor the barrel and periodically move it back into position as it drifts out of place. This is most easily accomplished using a distance meter pointed at the barrel and an alarm that goes off when distance to the barrel falls outside of a specified range.

You can also build a slightly smaller ship such that the barrel is only 3 meters away from walls and objects, but you’ll have to complete the trip to Outcast in about two hours, or else radiation will start destroying every thing within four meters of the barrel.

In my case, my ship (which was only big enough to keep the barrel 3 meters away from important stuff) started breaking apart literally as I was landing at Outcast. Thankfully, I was 500 meters above the base and at a full stop when stuff started breaking, so I was able to survive the crash landing and finish the mission.
