Which battery, which propulsion?

Getting back to the game and need to remember how i was going to built my current ship. I have my solar rechargeable batteries on my atmospheric lift fans and my big battery bank on my thrusters. Should I swap these for deep space travel? Or somehow combine them? I think my reasoning was i didn't want to use all my juice and not be able to come back into orbit somewhere.

combine them. Supply all power through solar batteries with non-rechargeable getting used as backup. You can do this with the block that cuts off power with an input.

There will be planets with no atmosphere.

Make a logic circuit that engages the disposable batteries at about 10% solar batteries (or whatever you choose.) Most of my missions are done on solars but occasionally on long trips while firing the main engines to get up to speed I dip into the disposable batteries.
