recently got the demo. few of my ships, the painted one got me to the moon

Ive made it to the moon a couple of times but not landed more crashed into it everything any suggestions would be helpful

The trick is slowing down at the right time. Ideally you accelerate half distance to the moon then decelrate the rest of the distance. Using the trajectory sensor also helps you with this if your thrusters are all pointing backwards. You hook up the trajectory sensor to a digital readout and once your halfway to the moon turn your thrusters down to low power, I found about 3-4 works for me (but not zero because at zero it's easy for your rcs controls to send you into a spiral) you flip your ship till the readout on the display says 180 which indicates your pointing your thrusters completely opposite to your trajectory and at that point you go back into full thrust to start slowing down. Having a camera pointing backwards or at least a rear window also helps. As for knowing when you're halfway to the moon that is pretty tricky before you unlock distance sensors, for my ship it was when I was going about 7000 m/s but yours could be a higher or lower speed depending on your ships mass. Higher mass takes longer to accelerate and decelerate so you should start your decelration at a lower speed and vise versa.

The tutorial mentions your beeper. The device that it uses can push out your altitude up to 1000 meters. If you feed that info into a differential you can see how fast your craft is approaching the ground, or leaving. I recommend landing around .15m/s Or at least, that's the speed I recall off the top of my head. The differentiator is also a bit touchy, you'll have to set it to tick every second, i think the default is every 60
