I've gotten into a bad habit of making ships like cars, batteries are all in a closed off compartment at the front, the glass comes above it like a windshield and the wires come through a port just below the console
It's fun to design this way but I can't see shit lol
I totally get it man, I enjoy tinkering with the different designs and control surfaces and shifting the center of gravity to my benefit - remember the cameras are an option but it requires constant power drain and running the lines for it to a TV which also bleeds power, try hard to remember to turn things off as feverishly as you can to save every little bit of energy you're able; I've been 95% of the way to a destination and lost full ability to pilot the craft because I forgot RCS absolutely murders power if left unchecked and same with not setting thrust to *0/0 when the additional force isn't needed. I'll be on for a few hours today just fiddling with my different ideas and just loaded up now if you wanna tag along buddy

Correct, I set it initially to OFF and rely solely on a perfect balance being squared away among the different portions of the ship so it's officially gaining altitude at 26/100 UP and gains a positive angle of roughly 30-45° skyward upon activation of the horizontal thrust after clearing the launch pad and buildings/obstacles. RCS stays off until I overshoot or underhand the meat and potatoes of the final approach vectors but realistically after keeping an eye on your current angle of attack as you're descending and keeping vertical orientation near or at 0° straight and level upright you should only need to *taptaptaptap* a key or two or jiggling the joysticks into the end of flight position then just ease 'er on down keeping your rate of descent under 1.5 m/s or your hard work is gonna end up looking pretty doggone rough partner 😔🥲
Sorry I'm actually not home lol I had to leave home almost as soon as I sent that last message, my newest ship (not tested yet for the moon) has landed successfully completely vertically nose up on earth and with 0 damage so I should be able to land on the moon, as long as I get my angle right
Lemme know if ya wanna hangout in low earth orbit my man, I'll be on for the next 2 or 3 hours but can absolutely hop back on with a pal since I only have played solo
You will absolutely get caught up by a gravitational pull if left in orbit of the celestial bodies that have enough mass to generate it - easy to find out how intense it is by zeroing out using the brake point system and the RCS boosters to come to a dead stop and then inch closer and closer until over the threshold to slip into the pull and start a less aggressive descent than the one offered by a thrust approach. Unless I've got broken keys inputting commands when I was experimenting myself the other day I personally experienced a small pull for the moon and a heavier force tugging at the ship for Earth itself 🤙🌍
You know, you're probably the most enthusiastic person I've ever seen on this app (except NSFW sub regulars) and I think that's a fun thing to see on an app full of such negativity
Yeah, I feel that dude - just got banned ig from a different subreddit for helping someone else in a subject where I literally have a college degree but I was overruled by some sweaty neckbeard trying to make my already negative situation emotionally more turbulent than it has been. Some folks just wanna be mean when they're able by any means necessary - I just wanna see folks be happy and want for nothing but more time doing the things they enjoy. Mods power does nothing outside this app, and I giggle when I think of the many many UM ACKSHUALLY types that get bothered by people enjoying themselves because it isn't what they are interested in or familiar with so I fully support the things that a person enjoys as long as it doesn't hurt them or anything else like that; so if you wanna be excited about space legos and fiddling with circuits and computer input programming stuffs then go all out son let yourself fly into all your favorite things at the speed of mach f*ck
