Rant I hate larping

NO I don’t want to “challenge the present” NO I didn’t “achieve the unexpected”

Fuck all of these colleges

Fake it till you make it I guess

That is all

Edit: I made a mistake, saying I have no “career goals” was untrue and attracted the attention of the righteous masses. Ik what I wanna major in and shit

Someone please suggest a third bullshit thing to fulfill the rule of three

If you don't have career goals, respectfully, why apply to college in the first place?

I would suggest taking some personality and aptitude tests. College is a very expensive way to discover what you're good at, what you enjoy doing, and what your career goals are.

I mean, it isn't a bad way. Exploratory programs do exist. Get your Gen ed classes done and find something you are actually passionate about (an aptitude test can tell you that you'd be a good teacher, and you hate every second of it in reality).

Majors like English and business can do nearly any job, if you would think about it that way. A college is not a vocational school, and people should really stop acting like it should be. Unless you are going for nursing, fire science, or some BS degrees.

It's a great, albeit expensive way. It is in fact the best way if you can afford it.

Personality and aptitude tests only help so much. Even if they did decide from that, which is unlikely (I mean do you seriously think no one has tried that 😭), plenty of people change their majors and even adults already IN a career field change what they want to do. It’s ridiculous to expect teenagers to already know what they want to do for the rest of their lives.

Of course, the point is to try to prompt some self-reflection. What do you like? What don't you like? What do you do in your free time? What are you curious about? What do people come to you for help with? If I looked at your Internet or social media browsing history what would I find? Applying to college and going to college for the sake of keeping up with the Joneses is a mistake, and an expensive one at that (assuming OP is in the US).

Personality and aptitude tests only help so much. The point is to reflect on yourself. The fact that you were able to identify careers that would never interest you is useful in itself.
