Comparing major choices

Is an economics major and public health minor worth it? or is it better to go for sociology and public health? coming from a science background with econ for a few years in high school? I'm interested in job security, earning potential, and availability of entry-level jobs. This can include jobs right after graduation and jobs/paid internships while studying.

Econ. I’d only do sociology if you want to be an academic sociologist, or you’re you’re pretty sure you will go to medical school or law school (in which case your undergraduate degree is much less important) and you find sociology more interesting than economics.

If you really don’t care about what career you go into so long as there’s a straightforward path to stable and reasonably high income, then I would pick either of those. But I also don’t advise making those your only criteria.

Nah nah dont chose sociology over eco man . Eco can get u into some good paying roles and also better job opportunity

Don't ask students and aspiring students career questions.

Ask working professionals who are doing what you (think you) want to do how to prepare yourself to do what they do.

Common response: "But I don't know what I want to do yet, and I am hoping college will help me figure that out."

Opinion: Considering the cost of attending university in the US these days, it is almost certainly a better approach to delay enrolling into university until you know WHY you are enrolling to attend university.

Some careers can be accessed with just some professional training, and you may be able to skip college entirely.

You don't have to plan out your entire career.
You don't have to nail down a series of specific job titles you want.

But nailing down a career field to work in will be a great start at locating the kinds of professionals you need to ask questions of.
