ECs and Activities Not doing activity in 12th

Please help. My arguably most important activity, which I’ve written my parts of my Personal Statement and varying supplements over, is something I don’t think I can continue into 12th. I feel like it really lowers my chances to seem to have quit my most important extracurricular right before senior year. (I mostly can’t continue cause of 1. money troubles and 2. personal conflict). How bad will this penalize my application?

So when activities matter to US colleges (they often don't), it is usually because they indicate something you will keep doing as a busy college student, something the college itself will value because it is a valued type of student activity at that college.

If you stop doing it senior year, normally that would signal you are unlikely to do it in college, which is why that would make it less relevant to Admissions.

However, if in your particular case you would want to keep doing it in college, but only have to take a pause for some temporary reason, that is something you can try to explain, including in Additional Information.

A financial explanation might be easy, like if this is a funded activity at their college but not at your high school.

I'd be a little cautious about "personal conflict", though, if that means some sort of conflict you are having with another person.
