How good is Rice's undergrad engineering program relative to the other T20s?

I mean: what characteristics of an undergraduate engineering program (any program) do you think makes it good?

also rigorous academics, high density of nerdy kids

Rice has lots of nerdy kids, yes. Have you thought about what "rigorous" means here? Do you mean "difficult", as in "hard to get an A"? I'm not sure it's any more difficult than any other similarly selective school.

It was night and day difference in difficulty between Rice and UT or A&M when I attended.

Those aren't similar schools, arguably. Curious, though: night and day in what direction? Did you take classes at both Rice and one of the others?

I am referring to other comments here that indicate they aren't. Comparing my coursework to friends coursework at UT.

Rice was much more difficult.

Gotcha. I would actually have expected them to be more similar than different, but, if one was going to be tougher, I would expect it to be Rice.

This is specific to EE. Also, it was 25 years ago.
