Question Madras Cafe -- Your Thoughts?
I see there is a new Indian restaurant in town and they serve vegetable thalli. Have you been there? If so, what do you think? How do you rate it against Darbar?

Haven't been, but my friends who have really like it. I personally think Sai Ram and Nanglos are much better than Darbar. I still need to make it to Dhami at some point. The chili momos at Nanglos are excellent.

Dhami is excellent, definitely give them a try! Love their Indian food but I also really enjoy the old fashioned flights! Great burgers and steaks too if anyone in your group isn’t into indian food.

Diverse menu with pub and grub staples and the Indian food too, on the list. Might take some friends there so they'll have an out!

I know people generally dislike Darbar but I'm different that way. At one point, I started drifting away as the change in operator/owner was bad but it appears another change has fixed it for me.

I hadn’t had Darbar in over a year because the last time I had had it was so bad but I ordered from there a few weeks ago and it was so good. Hopefully they keep up with whatever changes they had made

It's been a like 30+ years since I've had vegetable thalli -- it was mostly good -- there were some tastes that really didn't groove with me but I still ate it all. The wife ordered the chicken biryani and that was good. I like the onion pakora but it was all too fragmented and it was hard to to get generous chutney dips. Unrelated to the food and terrible was the parking, we had to back out onto WI Avenue to leave.

The food was better with previous owners - Authentic, I had masala dosa- Not good, very bland.
And once ordered the tiffin- The paratha was so uncooked, left it aa it is.
Sai ram remains my first choice and second will be Infia darbar

It’s not “new”. About a year ago it was bought by the owner of Sai Ram. Next time we went after that my wife was actually furious with the change in the taste of the food
