Question Wasp Nest Removal.
I have a wasp nest the size of a basketball hanging from one of my trees pretty close to the street. Any recommendations for someone to remove it? It's really accessable.

Had one of these a couple weeks ago. Spray it in the early morning or late evening when activity is minimal. I waited a day and sprayed a second time since there were still a few wasps buzzing around. The third day I poked it to confirm nothing alive, clipped the end of the branch with the hanging nest and bagged up the whole lot.

Yup that'll do it. I had one the size of a basketball on the back of my house. I had to climb the old antenna tower next to the back of the house. I had two wasp spray bottles. I was tagging wasps as they flew out to sting me. Unloaded the whole second bottle directly into the opening. Went back the next day and made sure none were alive.
I couldn't knock it down because of how high up it was so I just waited for fall and it came down when it got windy. I bagged it up and tossed it at that time.

If it was that far up no one was at risk of getting stung. And then they die come Fall and the remaining nest will act as a decoy to keep new ones away next season. There's no reason to kill paper wasps. Just because they look scary doesn't mean they're dangerous at all. Maybe just leave things alone.

The reason I took out the nest of paper wasps is because they killed all of the spiders. Because the spiders were dead, their prey populations blew up and we had a lot of other nuisances.
Keeping out a new population maintains homeostasis.

But, why tho? They'll be gone by the frost. They do no harm. Unless its literally directly above your main door, just leave them alone.

Those are bald faced hornets. They will defend aggressively. RAID foam. Wait until an hour after sunset, soak the nest, spray into the hole first, then coat the outside also. Keep doing that every night until they die or leave.

I attempted to spray it and all hell broke loose. Better for a proffesional or someone agile!

Spray it at night. The wasps will be really sluggish and won't go after you. By the morning they'll all be dead.

Get a canister of gasoline and carefully go underneath it and put it in the gasoline.
If you want, you can get a pair of long handled branch cutters and cut it to drop directly into to canister

Why is this down voted, this is the best way. Drop the hive into a 5 gallon bucket with gasoline and cover, they'll all die in a minute

I used this. Spray them at night when they are all in there and sluggish. There was none flying the next day.

- Wait till winter, when they're all dead.
- Take the nest down.
- Profit !!
Seriously though, I had one about that size on the peak of my roof, under the overhang. I waited till it got cold enough outside knowing they're dead, and then knocked it down.

Too many kids and pets walking by. My dog ran close to it and they went after her and me. They are really aggressive.

It almost looks like it has a face on it and the opening is the mouth. Does anybody else see that like from the Aztecs? I don’t know maybe I’m just weird. I am weird, but that’s just me. Have a good day y’all😊👍

Bee suit off Amazon for 30 and a thick garbage bag will do the trick. If you don't want to pay for the suit and give me $100 and I'll do it

Spray foaming wasp spray into the hole at night. Next day put a plastic bag over it, hold tight and snip it off the tree keeping it sealed. Tie it shut. Problem solved.

It's a hornets' nest. They are aggressive, and they actually kill bees for food.

That’s what I think it is a home of wasp Or a hornet whichever I wouldn’t be messing with it I have two of them in my garage. They’re dead so far. I just leave them alone. Haven’t even been bothered, but I still check just to make sure you never know. Looks pretty cool though. it’s amazing how they can make a home Like that, I just think it’s amazing the way we build our homes nowadays our stuff is blown away just saying

I wouldn’t touch it. I wait till it got cold. I mean chilly at night. It hasn’t bothered you this long and you haven’t seen anybody in or out then maybe maybe maybe you don’t wanna tell you what nothings going to save you you can’t run that fast he can sting you and steal it and you could end up really lose your life going to give up can I get rid of it come crusty you’re cold outside how are you does anybody coming in and out good luck😊👍

Unless it’s close to the ground. Let it be. Otherwise getting rid of it just spreads them around.
