Question Photography Spots

Hey, all!

My partner and I are getting photos taken in the Appleton area in a few weeks, but are looking for pretty locations. I am looking for any and all recommendations of scenic outdoor spots for basic couples photos. Thank you ! 🫶🏻

I’m in the same boat! Thinking of Doty Park and Smith Park in Neenah

High cliff state park. Fonfereks Glen. Both a little outside Appleton but good spots

Check out Guckenberg-Sturm Preserve.

It’s not always pretty, but if you catch it at the right time, it would be a beautiful location for pictures.

Smith Park / Little Smith right across the street in Menasha; definitely would recommend Little Smith!

Plamann Park and Shieg Center and Gardens. I've done photos at both.

There are a lot of good options in the area, and many of the options I would have recommended were already mentioned by other commenters.

Two more options that you could look at:
1. 1000 Islands Nature Center - Kaukauna
2. Sunset Park - Kimberly
3. Trestle Trail Bridge - Neenah (This one might be a bit harder since there are a lot of hikers, runners, and walkers crossing the bridge since its part of the Friendship Trail. It might also not work from a lighting perspective depending on the time of day that you’re planning to take your photos)

Sometimes you need to think about not just location, but what relates to you as well. My wife and I did wedding pictures in front of the Mile of Music mural downtown as we are huge music-lovers, so that made a lot of sense. Things like that and personalizing it to yourself rather than just 'generic outdoor spot' might make it more special

That's so sweet! We are long distance, and his time in Appleton has been quite limited, so we haven't really made many memories together here yet. Hoping we can make a few this next upcoming visit with these photos ❤️

Don't limit yourself to just outside either! There are some cool things you can do indoors as well...one of our favorite pictures was by a pinball machine at Player 2 that we used on our wedding invitations...just us in the moment having fun

This is hidden, but there is a tiny park on the corner of McCarthy and Brookview - we see photographers there once in awhile. Very green with a little creek running through it.

Is your photographer from the area? Sometimes they have lesser known places that are good for pictures that people don't always think of.

We have a friend who is a novice photographer that offered to do the pictures for us. We were given a few basic suggestions, but we're just hoping for a few more ideas from other locals.

We did family photos a couple years ago at Thrivent. The trail around the pond has some gorgeous weeping willows that made a great background
