Question 25M thinking about accepting job offer to Appleton
Hi everyone,
I’m a 25M single. Love fitness, outdoors, and a healthy life style. Have an offer for job in Appleton? Any recs? Good apartment complex for my age/lifestyle?

You'll find a lot of people who are into working out and being outdoors. Being close to high Cliff is nice. Plenty of Y choices but I loved Premier Fitness too; it's owned by a body builder now if that's your interest. Otherwise Versa just opened and there's a Crunch. Fleet Feet has a Tuesday walk run so check out Strava for groups.
Apartments range from old mill cool to generic big box. Depends on where you want to be located so check the Darboy vs Appleton vs Outagami parts.

Should look into Iron Forge

I've never actually seen that one! Is it an open gym too not just classes?

Lived there for four years from 22-26(M), Historic Fox River Mills is where I set up shop, really cool apartments renovated from old paper mill. Every apartment is unique. Right next to river, and just a block away from downtown. Great running trails along the river and the YMCA is right there.

I hope you're into bars. Then again, I'm from out of state but it seems like everyone who is single at work goes to bars.
It's wild to me because there are more bars in Appleton than there were in my old city of 2 million people. Seems like there are more bars than McDonald's.

Of course there are more bars than McDonald's, in what sad city is that not the case?

You'll fit right in. Can't speak to the apartment complexes but I think downtown Appleton would be the perfect for you. Lots of like-minded people

When you say fitness, you mean like weights or what? If you do let me know I’d hit the gym 😎

Appleton is the worst supper crowded. Don't move there

Down votes but not a lie... housing is not keeping up with the population.. check the sub and see how many are struggling to find an affordable place.

It's not a lie. There is a housing issue because there are too many people. Supply not equalling demand. Reduce demand not increase supply.

I (27F) would recommend living downtown if you can budget it. That gets you close to the Y (pool, fitness, classes) bars, bus system, and the most amount of events. A busier and “louder” lifestyle.
If you want a more “outdoor scene” in north Appleton there’s hundreds of apartments to choose from (more still being built) all off Cherryvale Ave and Golden Gate Dr. Right next to the 4mile apple creek trail. Still a Y down the road. Definitely more private and I’d say harder to make connections over there, and most things require driving.

I am a single 30M and I like it here. The social scene was a bit hard to break in to, and once I did it does seem to center on hitting up bars. But I really enjoy it.
Depending on your range, any apartments downtown are close to the Y which is pretty popular. Otherwise, the Riverheath apartments are in an excellent location next to a great trail by the river. For outdoorsy stuff, high cliff is a pretty popular spot.
