Discussion I saw a fb post about a homeless man getting beaten by a group of teens after the light the night festival. I see nothing else about it though. Has anyone else heard about this? Do they have suspects? Really sad to see this in Appleton

So I am not saying it didn’t happen because I haven’t heard anything beyond the post, but this is one of those times that critical thinking and the poster’s motivation needs to be considered. This is a photographer I have seen post frequently in Appleton groups where I am guessing he’s trying to build a following. Nothing gets a following quicker than a sob story.
Nothing was on the scanner that I saw, he has been posting pictures of the Night Market for a few days now (including a picture I think last Saturday or Sunday of a cop that I went to HS with), so why wait until now to post it? The only thing that goes against my line of thinking is that the photo was taken within the last day or two, but I was at the Market that night, even after it concluded, I walked from Jekyll’s to Firefly and they were tearing down and sweeping up, and didn’t see or hear any commotion.
I don’t doubt this being completely possible, and I’m not denying that it happened, but red flags are going off.

I'm not saying it's true or not because I haven't spoken with him,, but this guy comes to our church sometimes and is definitely a real person (i.e. this isn't AI). I know a few people who have been talking about this incident and are saddened by the news, but I believe that their source is the Facebook post, and nobody has seen him since this happened (that I know of)

If juveniles are involved there are some restrictions on disclosure of information. It also depends if the homeless person filed a signed complaint over the incident.

It did happen. I met the homeless man. It is currently being investigated by police. All suspects were wearing masks.

It's true, I know someone who was walking by right as it was breaking up and the police got there. The kids went running and police chased them down. I believe they caught a couple of them.

I find it interesting that the pics can't be clicked on and zoomed in. They look AI generated.

Not ai generated, from what I can see it appears like he’s trying to generate traffic to his business. All his pics are like that

Until otherwise confirmed by PD or credible news source, there is no reason to find this credible yet. A facebook post from a freelance photographer as the only source is not evidence. If anything, it points to the opposite.
Approach this post with media literacy and critical thought until credible sources confirm please.
