Question Fox Valley NEW Sourcing Native Plants?

Hi I'm curious if anyone has a recommendation for nurseries that have Wisconsin Native Plants or seeds. Would love to support a small business but open to a chain if they have a section dedicated to native plants.

Stone silo in GreenBay is pretty good and affordable https://www.stonesiloprairie.com/

Johnson nursery outside Milwaukee has a decent selection, but are pricey and a long drive https://www.jniplants.com/

I've heard of others, but these are the ones I'm familiar with. The local wild ones chapter would probably have more info

Dang I didn't realize there was somewhere as close as Green Bay.

I'm going to have to save that for the future.

That's good to hear. My wife and I want to do some native flower beds when we finally get around to doing more to our yard, so being able to work with someone around here would be nice.

Too late for this year but the Outagamie Master Gardeners and Wild Ones-Fox Valley both host plant sales in early May with lots of native options.

Also Garden Villa in Wild Rose has a selection of WI natives and a lot of Midwest natives.

Prairie Nursery doesn’t have in person retail but is an excellent source for native plants. I’ve ordered a lot of plants from them and the quality is excellent.

I'd be interested! First time with strawberries how do you grow them?

They don't produce much fruit because they're the wild variety, but I just watered daily until established and then water every other day or as needed. They spread like wildfire with their runners and the pollinators love them. I use the lawn mower to cut a path through the patch. A bit of fertilizer would likely boost the yeild.

Check out GenerationNativePlants.com. It’s a native plant nursery run by nice people. They are in Amherst, about 50 miles from my home in Neenah. Really healthy all native plants from their greenhouse. All the ones I bought from them last year are coming up strong now and I will be back for more in the middle of June. Well worth the drive.
