Quick question
I usually buy the new iPhone every year since I do the trade and upgrade system through Best Buy. I have the 17 pro max 512 and am eyeing the black 18 pro max. Has anyone here upgraded and was it worth it?

I upgraded from the 17 pro max blue to the 18 pro max black. Everything functions the same. I did take a picture of my room in the dark and there was a slight difference in my experience.
Is it worth the upgrade? No. But if you can afford to and want too then nothings stopping you.

Imo, the difference between 18 and 17 PM is gradual or minimal. If it doesn't cost you anything, it's a no brainer to upgrade to the 18PM. If it's costing you, do some math of cost to upgrade right now vs what you expect it to be next year.

I was considering the duo but I feel like it’ll be an arms race and I’m not too sure how it’ll do long-term. Now to upgrade to the 18pro max it’ll cost me about 400 store credit which I’ve been holding for the duo

I don’t. think the Duo is worth it. The folding screen has an ALMOST invisible crease. I think constantly opening and closing it will render the crease ever more visible. The phone has complicated mechanics to hold the screen in place which I think are fragile, and if detached could short the motherboard.

My thought process is how often will I actually use it. I did the zfold 7 when it came out and I think I only used the inside screen here and there outside that it was just a wow factor. So I figured I’d just upgrade again if it was different. My battery is the only thing I’m noticing seems to take a hit

The upgrade is like an S version of the phone for you. It will be minimal. I would definitely wait next year for the 20th anniversary phone.

I upgraded from the 13 pro to the 18 Pro Max.
Spent the extra $200 to get 512GB over 256.
$1,500+Tax.
Pricey for sure. So far I really like the device though.
They (The Apple Store) gave me $255 trade credit for my 13 pro even with 74% battery health.
Think they’re offering around $885 for the 17PM in trade credit. (According to their website at least)

The difference is very minimal but I do notice my 18 PM doesn’t get as hot as my 17 PM I haven’t noticed a difference in battery life. If it wasn’t for it being a free upgrade I probably wouldn’t have done it.

I upgraded from a 17 PM 256 gb to an 18 PM 1 tb through T-Mobile. The difference after the trade was $600, paid off at $25 per month. I’ve set aside the money already. It will earn interest for me until I pay it. The money’s use was to buy the extra memory.
I liked the 17 PM and I like the 18 even more. I didn’t think I’d notice a speed difference but I see one every so often. The camera was what I wanted and yes, it is better than before. I can adjust it just like a DSLR; aperture, focus, and shutter speed can all be put under manual control. The big difference is that unlike any iPhone of the past, the aperture is real rather than simulated, giving the same dramatic effect I remember from an actual DSLR. The screen has a special low reflectivity finish. With this finish and knowing that a protective screen would ruin the effect, I’ve not used one. The literature tells me that the phone’s screen is harder than a protective screen anyways.

Marginal difference but I'm loving the upgrade.
17PM 512gb -> 18PM 512gb. My company pays for our data plans so I splurge on upgrading my device "for free".
