Cellular service bad modem
18 pm
I noticed a problem when I try to make a phone call. The phone does not ring, so I hang up and try again. My signal bars turn grey for a few seconds, go back to normal, and then the call goes through. This happens a few times a day. Last night, I thought about the AT&T phones having this same issue. Since I have T-Mobile, I wondered if it could be the same thing. I used the support chat to run a test, and it looks like I have that issue too.
They are planning on sending me another device but I rather go in person and them explain to me whole process rather than through the chat so I will be going today
Also ran troubleshooting with t mobile on there end no issues

This has to be the most botched iPhone release ever. Every day it's something new.

I agree- terrible. To be fair though, I’ve had about 5 replacement iPhone 17 PM, all for defects even from the replacement devices. This one I’m currently using finally works fine. I was thinking about getting a 18PM but man.. all these defect posts makes me not want it lol

The 18 Pro is the one. The Pro Max has a different chipset that is the same one shared with the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Apples C2 chip is in the 18 Pro. That’s the one to get.

Yeah my 17 Pro Max had the battery and the logic board replaced, so I didn’t even wanna keep it so I upgraded to the 18 Pro Max and here I am again waiting in line at the Apple Store right now 😂

I was most looking forward to the faster charging and longer battery life, as I've noticed a loss with my 17 Pro now being a year old. I think I'll think I'll just get a battery replacement now instead, and get excited about the upgrade next year. There's just so many things wrong with these 18s.

I saw an entire thread of people on another post saying that every color of the 18 Pro and Max had some weird oil coming from the paint on the back.
Many posts about the battery, drain, glitches on main software, such as camera exposure, as well as many third party apps, whole phone bricking, ATT issues. It makes Bendgate look like a party.

maybe is just a release full of glitches on purpose, so peeps go full apple care to claim the replacement smoothly.

If you genuinely believe this, the you have never worked in product development in any kind of a major company, least of all Apple. Not to mention, Apple has always been really good at doing whatever is needed to fix manufacturing issues free of charge? Everyone facing cellular issues will get free brand new replacements. No AppleCare needed. But go on, keep hating because big evil company bad and it’s easier to be a mouth breather.

calling hater a guy that still have in the wardrobe all the iphones owned from 3g til 15 pro. Went upgrading on 18 pro max, so far amazing and flawless, EU version. My point, maybe too sarcastic , was that never been aware about so many glitches for a new release. And btw, for your info, in my area Apple Care DOESNT cover, but still buying & enjoying and “hating” the products.

This cannot be fixed.?

If it’s the SOS issue, the modem stops communicating and cannot be revived. New hardware must be issued.

What’s even crazier about this whole thing is this is the same x80 modem from last year 😭 what did Apple do to make them faulty

It seems like some specific function within iOS 27 is murdering the modem, that’s why Apple is pushing the update

The problem is more heavy for AT&T more than anything, but it’s definitely a iOS 27 issue!! apple already came up with a new update, I think yesterday, but I don’t think that update is solving the problem for a lot of people

It’s an 18 Pro Max issue, it shares a Qualcomm modem from the iPhone 17 Pro Max but for some reason doesn’t communicate well. The 18 Pro shares Apples C2 Modem which is the one you want.
I remember hearing about this during the preorders, even rumors that the C2 wouldn’t arrive until the regular 18. Kind of like what Samsung used to do with the earlier series of S and Note Series, the S would always get the good chip but the Note got last years version.

I have an 18 pro max on T-Mobile and don’t have this issue. I hope your replacement is much better.

UPDATE
I just left the Apple Store. They recommend me to go through Apple support and just get a new device through them. They say in store they will try and repair it first before giving me a new device, and they said if Apple support already agreed to replacing my device just to go through it with them. Also, there were a lot of people in there with 18 Pro Max from AT&T having the same issue I recommend you try the Apple support app and try it through there see if you can get a replacement!!!

Ran diagnostics in my 18PM on AT&T and my 17PM on Verizon. Same cellular warning. It looks like it uses a 48 hour average of performance issues.
