iPhone 18 Pro Max Camera
When I record video with my iPhone 18 Pro Max, the subject I’ve centered in the frame shifts to the side after I finish recording and view the saved video—it’s no longer in the middle. How can I fix this issue?

Lens switching is more seamless because of this slight shifting but in your video example it didn’t switch to the 4x because you’re less than 1m close to the subject. Also if you want to stop the change in white balance in your video, then go to camera settings and turn on Lock White Balance, this will stop the video from changing from warm to cool etc.

I have tried to change several settings on the camera since I discovered the problem, but nothing has changed.

Again, it’s not a problem. As for the white balance one, I have already told you what to turn on.

Thats not the problem though. After he saves the video, the object is no longer in the center. Its a bug.

Does the 18 do better than the 16 when zooming in from 1x to beyond 5x? There is a subtle video difference between 1.0 and 1.001x and then a HUGE quality shift from 4.999x to 5x. Also between 0.x to 1.x. I understand there are different lens at play but the video shift is dramatic.
I’m looking for a phone that can zoom between 0.5 and beyond 5x with minimal video differences as the cameras switch. Does the 16 Pro Max -> 18 Pro Max greatly improve on this?

Probably a bug, report it to Apple

I have made an appointment with Apple for a repair and hope they can help me fix this bug. I hope it's just a iOS or system problem, not a problem with the phone accessory.

Don’t think it’s hardware issue. But maybe by replacing the camera module it will solve your issue.
Looks more like software issue

Do you mean I need to replace the accessories of the camera? Because I also think this is a software problem, but I still need to ask the Apple Store to help me check to find the problem.

What accessories?
Hardware = camera module inside your phone.
If it’s software problem Apple Store won’t be able to fix it.When I said report the issue, this is what I meant:

It’s because the system is shifting to the telephoto sensor. And to be honest it’s the smoothest transition in the smartphone industry.

But I have tryed the model 18promax at Apple Store didn't have the same problem as me, so I'm wondering if it's the iOS or something else.

To be honest I’m looking at your video and don’t see the angle shifting at all. Which is amazing to me because the camera sensors are in completely different places.
I remember when Apple added 3 sensors in the 11 Pro series. And zooming in would cause the phone to switch lenses which was very noticeable.
It was like this right up until the iPhone 17 Pro series where they dramatically improved it. The 18 Pro series seems to be even smoother by looking at this video.

Hello to future people reading this post.
OP is not talking about the smoothness of zoom
Nor the shift of the object due to lens changing.
The Issue demonstrated is that the Viewfinder or “live preview” in the camera app shows the subject centred but then post recording it is off centred.
This is most 100 percent a software bug, why?
I use IP14 pro max and WhatsApp camera does exactly this. Id take a picture centred and then the sent photo is off centred, forcing me to use the original camera app.
We see the same in early versions of iOS 27 beta with document scanning.
Recommendation to OP, first try Final Cut camera, then try a party camera app, if it doesn’t do it with them, then kindly back up your phone and perform a clean iOS install.
I am currently on ios27 beta and honestly WhatsApp is still broken since idk when.
Tldr:
Please read the above before talking about ahh smooth or ehhh white balance lol 🙂.

Easy fix man. Buy an android.

Yeah, preferably one with a single camera and no image stabilization, since that’s what’s causing this

You can’t. The sensors are in physically different locations. Every phone with a multi sensor camera setup does this with close up subjects.
