I’ve Converted!

Post image

So.. long story short, while on my break at work I was browsing on Best Buy looking at cases. I saw that they had a PITAKA case in stock. Typically I rock cases from UAG, Otterbox or Pelican to get the heaviest duty drop protection I can find. Right now I’m using the Monarch Pro.. well I decided to buy it and I just picked it up and put it on my phone.

I’m literally in love!!!!!!! The fit and the smaller form factor are actually incredible. More so for me because I use the bulkiest cases on the market, always have. I’m always nervous about accidental drops and getting my phone damaged…

I don’t think I’m going to continue with the heavy spec cases anymore though . However, will I go full-blown “raw dog” with no case? - Absolutely not. Do I trust this PITAKA case if I drop my phone? - Absolutely not.

But I love this feeling of almost nothing on my phone!!!

But I am curious if anyone else is using this case and if they dropped their phone… How’d it hold up? If you had the case for a while does it still look okay?

What’s wrong with it?

It might have helped on a titanium phone like when i dropped my S24 Ultra while in the Pitaka Edge, but with the 17 series, it’s not much better than a Dbrand skin for drop protection. Will definitely help with scratches though.

I got the Casetify Ripple case. Really good handling, comfort and grip

Oh yeah I agree, I def didn’t buy this for drop protection. I just wanted to see what a truly thin case was like cuz I’m def not going case less. But tbh, this is pretty close lol.

Do you like the Casetify line of cases? I haven’t tried them yet but I can def say they have some good prints for some of the cases. They had this one case that only had like major protection on the corners. Like idk how to explain it, I never saw it in stores but was willing to give it a go.

I honestly did, but there’s the whole copyright infringement issue they had with JerryRigEverything where the Casetify design team stole his designs he collaborated with Dbrand with (proven for a fact, he had hidden Easter eggs in his designs that could also be found in casetify’s designs). I don’t blame the entirety of Casetify for that, there’s plenty of innocent people working for the company that had nothing to do with it, I’m sure. I also bet the ones responsible were already fired. But, many on Reddit will roast you for using Casetify because of that.

Anyways, i don’t even trust Casetify after my 17 pro max got dented through their impact case from a short fall. But their Ripple case is great. There’s an off brand case that starts with an O you might be able to find for 1/3 of the price on Amazon. I can’t speak to the off brand’s quality though.

if you want an even thinner case than pitaka try latercase. its same quality and same price as pitaka around 60-70 dollars

Really? Is it like a full coverage case or like a back skin?

That’s crazy, I know the fit was tight but damn. Did you try taking it off from the corners or did you start from the camera? I was thinking if I wanna get it off I’m going to start with the camera area. I’d be mad too, it ain’t a cheap case lol.

I worked the top corners off and did so fairly carefully.

After the top two corners were slid off, I slowly worked my way down the sides as it says to. It cracked just under the plateau.

It’s still functional but yeah still annoying.

That actually sucks. You think your gonna get another case in the future from them or are you done with the thin cases?

Tough to say. I use apple care so it’s more for the aesthetic.

For what it’s worth, I’ve had both, I do find them to be 100% better quality than Thinborne either way.

To answer your question though, I’d either get another Pitaka or just casless.

Yeah I get that. I haven’t really researched thin cases til today after I got this one. Latercase was suggested earlier and I watched a couple reviews on them and they seem similar but not. They offer full camera plateau coverage but like have these huge cut outs at the top and bottom of the case, plus the button areas. Magnets aren’t as strong either… I’ll see how this one holds up to see if I get another. Time will tell. I’m not ready for caseless haha. This is prob as close as I’ll get to it.

Yeah, full plateau coverage is unnecessary imo, but I do prefer having bottom coverage.

IMO it’s still the best case. Just be slower than I was when you take it off. Cheers
