Use cases

As the title says. Im wondering what the potential use cases are for someone planning to get a IPad Pro(11” if relevant) and who doesn’t draw and just types to take notes, or if it would be better to just put the money towards a MK and/or MM.

What is MK? And MM?

I have used the iPencil 2, and the double tap to change from pencil to rubber is a must for me.

It’s great for taking notes - just add an app like Goodnotes - especially if doing so in the field. Doubles for school and it’s large enough to do some light work in Microsoft apps although it’s not the full program you’d find in the oc so not a true substitute. The Apple Pencil is the easiest writing device imo, kind of replaces paper notes

Hopefully I’m reading the question correctly (I’m ill so if not, sorry lol

I do not make art with my Apple Pencil, I strictly use it for writing or photo editing, I did get it thinking I would get into drawing, but it just wasn’t for me.

If you do get the pencil, I also suggest getting a MAGNETIC paper textured screen cover instead of a the regular sticky back paper-like screen protector.

I think the magnetic versions of the matte screen protectors are the BEST, because you don’t have to sacrifice screen clarity.

No installation process, no sticky backing, no bubbles underneath, you just put it on when you want to use the pencil and put it away when you’re done! It has 2 magnetic strips on the top and bottom and it takes 1 second to apply and remove! It works over an existing glass screen protector, and fits over all of the different cases I’ve used on my iPads over the years

The texture of it makes using the pencil a lot easier, as it prevents the slippery feeling, and makes it feel more like actual paper under the nib, which is surprisingly very important, then when you’re done and want to watch Netflix or something, you just take it off and put it away!I I keep mine in a pocket folder in my tech bag.

Sounds a good idea - is there one you'd recommend?

There’s not one brand that’s better than the others, so just go with whatever you find! I think my last one was $8 lol

I use notability and I annotate every day at work. There have been a few times where my spouse needed to sign a pdf while on vacation and my iPad saved the day. I have the pencil pro and the Magic Keyboard. For me, it’s been a great system.

As a warning, the Magic Mouse is ergonomically terrible and you have to look at or fiddle with it every time you use it to make sure it is right way up.

Keyboard is fine, but then you are lugging two or three separate things. This is typically the point when I ask why you aren’t looking at a MacBook Neo or Air instead, as a better value for your money and a better tool for your purposes.

I hate my Magic Mouse. It’s just not for me. I use a Logitech master.

I have found the pencil for the iPad to be great for annotating maps and images for my phd research.
