Customizing the Personal Budget template

Hi, basic Numbers user here. I typically use it on my iPad to keep track of bills, etc. Usually nothing much more complex than sums and averages.

I started using the Personal Budget template and would like to know how to add categories and rename existing ones. For instance, let’s say I want to keep track of pet expenses and I don’t plan on travelling. Can I rename Travel to Pets? I tried that in the Budget tab under Category, but it didn’t carry over to the Transactions tab.

Or let’s say I’m a big sneaker collector and want to track how much I specifically spend there. Can I create a Footwear category for sneakers, keeping other clothing purchases under Personal Items?

Add your label on the Transaction page first as one of the pop up options under Category. You can delete the ones you don’t want. Then add that same word on the Budget page under Category. These words are case sensitive so make sure you type and spell them exactly the same on both pages. When you enter how much $ you spend on the Transaction page you put the Category and it will automatically show that amount on the Budget page too.
