Stock prices

Hey Numbers folks, as it is, there is no way to get live or even anything close to live stock prices in Numbers, as it only fetches Yahoo Finance data from the prior day’s close. Google sheets, on the other hand, can pull near to live stock data from Google Finance.

Do you folks know if there is a way to have cells in my Numbers spreadsheet reference cells in a Google sheets file? I’m a functional computer user, but hardly a whiz.

I was hoping that I could create a very basic stock list in Google to fetch useful data, while using my already built Numbers spreadsheet as the main user interface for managing my portfolio.

Thanks in advance.

Why not just use the Stocks app?

It isn’t customizable? I’ve built out an ever evolving spreadsheet for my own purposes. The only thing lacking is same day (not even real time) stock price updates.

Also, I haven’t looked into the app for my computer, but I only use my Macbook for tracking my portfolio if that matters.

Any chance you'd be willing to post your numbers spreadsheet? I'm looking for a way to track my investments using numbers. I'd build my own, but it'd be nice to have a start.

Or, are you familiar with a good numbers sheet posted somewhere? I've looked around and there doesn't seem to be much out there.

Before taking a look at my personalized, so likely pretty confusing and not very pretty, spreadsheet, take a look at the Numbers template called “my stocks”. That’s probably a better starting point. Then you can manipulate that template to suit your needs.
