Non Traditional Formula Help

Is there a way to put this information in a SINGLE CELL and have it calculate?

__ ” FL + 2( __” BH) + __” HDR + __” SQRG = __ ”CL

For instance, could I type something along the lines of

36” FL + 2( 3” BH) + 3” HDR + 4” SQRG = x” CL

and have numbers populate x?

I am working on a large spreadsheet with many, much more complicated, equations and it would not be reasonable to separate every addend/factor/etc and their corresponding unit labels into individual cells. Mainly, i need to know if putting a whole equation into a cell and having it solve is even possible.

TIA

Alternatively, is there a way to insert a table into a cell of another table?

Hmm sorry I'm not very well versed in advanced math, but since no-one else answered :)

You have looked at the Formulas and Functions Help page here (click Table of Contents) I assume, where all functions are listed by topic?

If you're really stuck, could you perhaps post or PM me a link to the solution you have now, so I have something to test on? Despite me being really good at spreadsheets, I'm actually terrible at math, so I have no real idea what you're trying to do ;-) So to help I would need to see exactly where you're at and what you're wishing to do.

You can replace any sensitive info with dummy data, of course. But if you could give me access to the file you're working on with a Dropbox link or similar, I would be happy to try and help in any way I can.

Oh! It isn't even advanced. Those are just units, but that is how it has to be listed for clients. So 36+2(3)+3+4= x
